Report: Nike to Replace Reebok As NFL's Official Apparel Supplier
by Mike Cole on Oct 11, 2010 7:52:32 PM

The Nike swoosh may soon be making its way back to NFL sidelines.

According to a Sports Business Daily report, NFL owners are close to approving a five-year proposal that would make Nike the official supplier of uniforms and sideline apparel. A new Nike deal would come into place following the conclusion of Reebok's current apparel agreement with the league.

The new deal would go into effect following next season making Nike the apparel supplier for the first time since 2001.

Nike confirmed the discussions with CNBC sports business reporter Darren Rovell, saying, "We are involved with the NFL negotiations but can not comment on ongoing discussions."

New Era, the on-field supplier of MLB caps, would become the supplier of NFL caps as well, the first time in their history that they've had an on-field deal with the NFL.

Wow, best news all day. That would be a welcome change, sick of Reebok. Now if only they could change the NBA license...
