Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite 2017

Since I missed out on the Next% 2's in the prototype colorway, all I want is a Next% 2 by you with a Flyknit upper. Randomly saw a picture of the 4% Flyknits and it got me all nostalgic for that.

AF just because I am curious if theyll keep the airpods or not, has a second gen been confirmed?

we pretty much know whats up with the Next%2 at this point, just a matter of color blocking they go with

Yeah, Alphafly 2 is in development. Main think with the Next gen of the Next% family will probably be the development of the plates. These were filled by Nike in the last few months.

Fascinating. Looks like they're getting more nuanced in plate design, including stuff along the lines of Adidas's rods as well as developing an application for football cleats and boots (?)

paging @benjohnson @protosofthegram @vaporflyworldwide

but those a re very interesting, looks like they are exploring the monkey paw-like plate similar to the adios pro

the cut out in the middle for an air bubble looks weird and i can imagine it feeling weird at the ball of your foot

exciting times though

Not sure if the cutouts are to accommodate an air bag? Given their shape, they look more like they are designed to let the plate flex in multiple directions, perhaps so the ride feels more natural?

the bubbles int he diagram made me think they are at least considering it on fig3 and fig18

not sure if restock or if it never sold out but almost fsr

yeah they sold out but then restocked. It’s everywhere now at most local shops that typically stock at the VFN tier. Glad to see it not limited. On the other hand the Adios Pro sold out in 2 hours this morning.

Are they trying to patent carbon layup? Good luck with that.

Looks like they want to continue to reduce flex lengthwise while introducing flex widthwise. I think that would be more beneficial in a stiffer foam like react.

B bluegrey is it safe to say if you like the current AF and love the forefoot pods to grab them while you can and maybe double because the second one migh tnot have it based on those designs?

or they'll like just do a small tweak on the AF2 and then have the third one have the big change like what nike usually does with their cycles?

In what ways is a nylon plate diff from carbon?

for one, its not carbon fiber....

but if you want a more serious answer, nylon plate isn't as rigid as the carbon one so it'll be slightly more flexible and you won't get as much of that "bounce" of each stride. it tends to work better for your daily training whereas the carbon plate would be more suited for the race days

Can we just get Nike to give us a flucking nylon plate?!?

The Zoom Fly 1 has a Nylon/Carbon Infused plate. The cushioning was revealed to be a combo of Lunar and a React carrier or vice versa. Their ride feels pretty rigid to me.

The Tempos have a Nylon plate too, no?

the air zoom tempo has a composite plate

"The plate shifts from carbon to a composite — softer for added comfort over higher mileage — but still serves to provide stability and transition throughout a runner's full stride."

Composite being the call out over carbon used in three Alpha leads me to believe it's glass or aramid fibers most likely. Or a combo of.

I still think Seth D reviewed fakes. His plate had the stiffness of a cooked noodle when he cut it out.
