This is how I see it.

First date I pay dinner, Why? There are more negative consequences from coming of as cheap. I understand the 50/50 logic but a first date is not the time to bring that up, specially if I'm trying to smash. A female is accustomed to being pampered by society. Women place a high value on how a potential partner treats them right from the start. That 50/50 mentality will turn off most girls and that's something I'm not risking over machismo.
