Truthfully i'm worried about the Cubs this year... It wouldn't surprise me if they somehow pull the division out... but I could see them finished 3-4 as well just as easily... we'll see..

Naw, that's his other brother Dan McGwire that played in the NFL. The brother that dropped the dime was Jay, which is his youngest brother.

1. schu .303
2. Rasmus or Ryan
3. El Hombre
4. MH
5. Ludwick
6.rasmus or ryan
7. freese
8. yadi

B Ryan looked good at the plate last year and hopefully he got better. Im sure Rasmus has gotten more strength in his swing and can get more doubles.....he just sucks against left handed pitching.

3+4 just need to remain healthy...........and while i dont think he will ever do what he did in 2008, ludwick just needs to stop striking out soo much, hopefully he just needed to get healthy......but he was pretty good when he got the bat on the ball.

7+8 are suspect right now........yadi can hit sometimes (batted .351 in september) and sometimes he cant hit as good. Freese is still unknown....we will see how he comes out swinging in spring training.

OVERALL...........If albert and holliday can stay healthy, this should be a very good year at the plate for the cards and we shouldnt have as many problems scoring like we did last year.

As a big Cubs fan, I only hope for the best, yet prepare for the worst. It's what being a Cubs fan is all about. I truly hope that this is the year. Can't wait until Opening Day then I'll post more. Until then, good to see everyone back here.

Going to watch a game on a rooftop May 17th, monday night against the Rockies.

Can't wait for that.

To the fellow Cubbie faithful, CP1708, Arstyle, tylerdub, THE SAUNA,  and everyone else *tips my hat*....to all the other fans of their respected teams, FB, WildKY, pacmagic, and the rest, best of luck unless your team plays the Northsiders. *tips hat as well to everyone else*

W4L Season Predictions:
(no homerisim allowed)

Brewers 94-68, Pitching much improved and best 1-2 offensive punch in baseball.
Cardinals 92-70, Dangerous team but their pitching won't be as good as last season.
Reds 70-92, Blah blah blah watch out for the Reds blah blah blah, we've been getting this every season for the last 5 years.  It's getting old.
Astros 69-93, Lame team.
Pirates 60-102, Organization is a joke as well as their players.
Cubs 58-104, Team is on the decline, players are aging, fans are in denial, coach is senile, the team is in a bad situation.  Zambrano will choke out Lou by midpoint of the season.

A lot of people , outside of Chicago mostly, are saying the Cubs will finish with a bad record. I don't see it. I'm not the most optimistic person, but I think the Cubbies are gonna play well.

And I'll bet Wisc4life $100.00 that the Cubs finish better than 58-104. Holla at me dude.

Milton Bradley said unrealistic expectations and poor communication, and not the player himself, were to blame for his struggles during his one season with the Chicago Cubs.

In an interview with The New York Times, Bradley -- who was dealt in the offseason to the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Carlos Silva -- pointed to his career record to show what happened in Chicago.

"Two years ago, I played, and I was good," Bradley told The Times. "I go to Chicago, not good. I've been good my whole career. So, obviously, it was something with Chicago, not me."

Bradley, who has played for eight teams in 11 seasons, had a career-best season for the Texas Rangers in 2008, batting .321 with 22 home runs and 77 RBIs. Looking to add left-handed punch to their lineup, the Cubs signed Bradley to a three-year, $30 million contract before the 2009 season.

Bradley struggled to live up to the contract and manage the pressures of playing in a big market. He batted .257 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs.

"Just no communication," Bradley told the paper, referring to his Cubs tenure. "I never hit more than 22 homers in my career, and all of a sudden I get to Chicago and they expect me to hit 30. It doesn't make sense. History tells you I'm not going to hit that many. Just a lot of things that try to make me a player I'm not."

Cubs manager Lou Piniella on Thursday disagreed with Bradley's assertion.

"We expected him to bat fifth in our lineup," Piniella said. "Milton did get off to a struggling start for us in 2009 but that was last year. We wish him well, and we hope Silva does well here."

The Mariners are counting on Bradley, a .277 career hitter, to be their No. 3 hitter.

"We made the deal because we were looking for someone to hit in the middle of our lineup," Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik told the paper. "Milton fit that spot. We like what goes on here. We have a lot of faith and trust in [manager] Don [Wakamatsu]. He allows players to be who they are, and that's all we want Milton to do: Come here and be a productive player for us, and have fun. That's the environment we want to create."

What a damn clown.  It was the city, not him?  lol

Aroldis Chapman made his debut in an intrasquad game today, and will pitch Monday against the Royals.

Aroldis Chapman’s first was eventful — to say the least.

Pitching in the intrasquad game, Chapman fell behind Wladimir Balentien 2-1 before getting him to ground out on a 92 mph fastball. Yonder Alonso doubled the opposite way to left on the next pitch. Chapman hit Todd Frazier in the right knee with a next pitch — a 95 mph fastball. Frazier went down in pain and had to helped off.

Chapman got out of the jam by striking out Ryan Hanigan on 97 mph fastball and Wilkin Castillo on an 82 mph change.

The Reds announced that Frazier has a bruised right quadriceps. No x-rays were necessary.

Chapman threw harder once he got in the stretch. Homer Bailey was throwing 93, 94. If Chapman throws 3 mph harder than Bailey, he’ll be hitting 100. Bailey was consistently as 97 on his good run toward the end of last year.

Catcher Ramon Hernandez caught Chapman and says his stuff was good, however his control needs work.

Pitching coach Bryan Price was pleased in general and with Chapman  in particular.

“At the beginning of spring training, you could tell the guys came in in shape — in good throwing shape and good cardiovascular shape.  That was evident. They were crisp. They threw a  lot of strikes. Guys were down in the zone. They had a pretty good feel for their off-speed stuff. I was pleased over. (Chapman) was impressive. You guys all saw it. He had a terrific fastball. He threw a real nice change-up to his last hitter for his final out. The slider is progressing nicely. With Frazier that didn’t too good, a fastball off the back knee. But he was around the plate with three pitches. He looks live and is athletic around the mound. I wasn’t disappointed in any way.

Score: Cubs 9, A's 3.

Spring record:
1-0.

At the plate: Derrek Lee, Marlon Byrd, Tyler Colvin, Brad Snyder and Sam Fuld hit homers in 16-hit attack.

On the mound: Randy Wells and Sean Marshall notched two perfect innings apiece. Esmailin Caridad threw a perfect ninth.

In the field: The Cubs played error-free ball.

Castro watch: The 19-year-old rookie shortstop went 1-for-3 with a triple in his debut.

Up next: Vs. Arizona at 2 p.m. Friday; Dan Haren vs. Carlos Zambrano.

95+ with the heat...82 with the change...filthy.

Harang will get the ball Opening Day.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The first pitch of the spring to Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder landed in the middle of his back.

It wasn't due to a lack of control by San Francisco Giants left-hander Barry Zito. There was a reason.

The Giants had been simmering all winter over Fielder's antics after hitting a walk-off home run against them at Milwaukee's Miller Park on Sept. 6. When Fielder neared home plate, he braced for contact with his teammates, who fell backward like bowling pins.

Umpire Ted Barrett went about halfway to the mound to make sure no larger fireworks ensued, and Fielder jogged to first with not much reaction.

I didn't see it, but I read the article yesterday. How long ago was that celebration? My goodness, save it for the real game if you wanna throw heat at somebody.
