T-dub.....he knows that if they pay him that amount of money then they won't be able to afford to build a good enough team to win with.

He has said on numerous occasions that he will stay if he feels this team is dedicated to winning and keeping a team that stays in contention year after year. He also stated that he is comfortable with the money he has already made and while money will factor into his decision...it will not be the MAIN Factor.

He will get a 180-200 million dollar 7-8 year deal, max.

If he doesn't sign an extension this coming winter....he`s gone...but I'm sure he will be signed by the beginning of next season.

My world would come screeching to a halt if Albert Pujols was traded in his prime.  I wouldn't know how to follow sports anymore, seriously.

Cavs would trade Lebron before the Cards move Pujols imo.

In a strange way I hope he does stay in STL. I like to see guys who take the winning as seriously as the $. I also like the opportunity to watch one of the greatest players play in person. Doesnt change the fact that I hate that he plays for the Cards.

This. Doesn't happen enough in modern times, but Albert I could see doing it for sure. I hope he does.

I see what ur saying, but I'll pay for the plane ticket that gets Pujols out of the Central.

Do not get me wrong. That dude kills me. I would love to see him play anywhere but the NL Central. I still appreciate the skill level. If he were a Chicago Cub I would not even be posting on NT, I would be too busy stalking him and digging through his trash for pieces of goatee hair.

All i want him to do is retire a cardinal...no matter how much his abilities diminish.

If he retires as a red-bird, They need to build a statue of him in his batting stance somewhere in the stadium.

"The stadium that Albert built"

In that case, trade him to the Royals. Then he can comeback in 13 years and sign a one-day and retire as a Cardinal.

I hope Albert stays in the NL Central personally, we need a replacement for D Lee in a year or so.

Yea....Albert doesnt even have the cubs on his list of teams he would consider going to.

From what they listed, he put the dodgers, angels, Astros and marlins.

I am cautiously starting to feel a little optimism about this season. Especially since D Lee looks like he is in great form. Also the Cards look bad, Carp has not had a very encouraging spring training. I know you cant take Spring Training records (or even individual performances) too seriously but right now it is all we have to go on.

Been in this keeper fantasy league for like 10 years now.  I've won it like 4 times I think including last year.  So we have two deadbeat owners and we decide to clip them this year, go down to 6 teams til we can grab two more solid owners.  (all local Portland area guys)  So one of the teams was beaten pretty badly last year, started trading away his stars for draft picks this year.  He made 3 deals.  Here we are with a 6 team league, we can protect 5 players, and dude has 4 of the first 5 picks in the draft.  I have the last pick in the first as the defending champ.
He comes in, takes Mauer #1.  Ok, I can dig it.  Next guy takes someone, I forget who.  Dan Haren I think, not sure.  Then the other guy comes back, Jeter, Manny, Pablo Sandoval.

Who do I get with the last pick of the first round, after this guy has picked FOUR TIMES already????

Hanley Ramirez.

Defending champ gets Hanley with the last pick of the first round, instantly, before I could finish saying ...irez, 3 other owners yell "I quit" and throw their pencils in the air.

My dude took Jeter and left Hanley on the board, and what's worse is he already had Jose Reyes, and also left Ryan Braun and Prince on the table as well.  I suspect this dude may not be an owner next season either, we may need to go down to 4 teams.

I hate to say this out loud. I am starting to think they have a shot. Bullpen is gonna be the achilles heel though.

Less than a week away boys. I'm ready.

Nice to see Tyler Colvin step up and make the squad. For the first time ...ever, i think, I have a good feeling about our young position players.

I can sense the apprehension in your post ar. I feel the same way.

So psyched for opening day!

Yeah man. After Pie' and Blanco and Fox and Hoffpauer and the big Asian guy and all the other young guys that have been hyped and failed, I'm actually excited about the possibilities of Castro and Colvin, among others. Could you imagine either of them being a stud, or even both ?!?!??!?! The great teams home grow their own studs, and if these young guys continue their ways, the Cubbies will be contenders for a while.

You can add both Patterson brothers to that list. SMH.
If they can continue to grow their skills I could see a nice run for the Cubs.

I at least have a little more faith in the new ownership and the managers. I think Lou is on his way out but I like some of the younger guys managing in the minor league organization.
