the unnecessary change is that they're changing the shape and they're doing the vintage treatment to it, aka probably yellowed soles and maybe some leather gimmick.

The fact that the rumored Chicago 1s dropping is called "Reimagined" instead of just dropping it with the current 85 mold, like the upcoming Georgetowns, is concerning
They already pushed out this new 85 mold, why not just drop the Chicago 1s as part of the current 85 mold lineup?

Probably because they finally realized they incorrectly used the 1994-95 mold for the new "85" mold and decided to try to correct it. Which I'm totally fine with.
