The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday voted to overturn landmark ruling Roe v. Wade, which provided constitutional protections for abortions across the nation for nearly 50 years, leaving power to the states.

Two of the most annoying top their bad faith arguments floating around right now are:

-Conservatives that swear that since Roe happened we can now focus on providing material benefits to mothers to help them raise their kids and of course talking about using adoption as an alternative to abortion. Conservatives generally are full of ****, they won't support an expansion of the welfare state to help families in any serious way. Most foster care systems are a damn mess

-The left-wing critics of progressives act that this verdict should somehow discipline progressives. Using this as an opportunity to repeat their usual schtick and act like progressives must realize that the only way they can get back to a place close to Roe is by moderation. They relied on the Supreme Court as a shortcut and now they have to earn a victory the hard political way. Citing Ireland as a model to win. Ignoring the fact out our electoral system is set up to suppress the political power of progressives, and liberals generally, we don't have the mechanism places like Ireland had to enact policies. The right has already set up a system where they can steal presidential elections and the only thing that can stop them is the same court that just struck down Roe.

Important things to notice there...

-It is obvious some conservative's new thought this day would come so they never had to really about what comes next. So they think that somehow the GOP can just tell evangelical and Christian nationalists that this is enough. They won't for multiple reasons.
-How the idea of the GOP helping women are laughed off. Like people just expect the GOP to be cruel so all the responsibility to help women is put on the Dems. Even in a system that electoral disadvantages the Dems.
