***Official Political Discussion Thread***

All kidding aside, let me be serious for a minute. You see, I have to apologize to all of you.

For the past two years, I have been pushing a false narrative based on the Russia investigation. Many times I slandered a man I have never met, based on what I thought to be true.

I called him dishonest, unreliable, a habitual liar, a cheat, a no-good son of a *****. I ranted and raved on here about how terrible this individual was, how he had betrayed our country, how he had eroded our faith in our institutions.

In short, today I learned that I have been wrong. I had judged this man too quickly.

As it turns out, Robert Mueller is a TRUE 'MERICAN and COALRADE! Let the good times cooooooaaaaaaallllll!!!!!!!

Guessing the ~100 troops are probably some form of security detail for the cargo and the chief of staff of the ground forces. We'll see how they proceed as the two countries proceed to strengthen their relationship. Earlier this year Reuters also reported an influx of Kremlin-linked mercenaries to Venezuela but they appear to function as bodyguards for Maduro.
If anything this will hopefully dissuade the US and John Bolton's band of warhawks from exploring military intervention.

Russian air force planes land in Venezuela carrying troops: reports
Two Russian air force planes landed at Venezuela’s main airport on Saturday carrying a Russian defense official and nearly 100 troops, according to media reports, amid strengthening ties between Caracas and Moscow.

A flight-tracking website showed that two planes left from a Russian military airport bound for Caracas on Friday, and another flight-tracking site showed that one plane left Caracas on Sunday.

That comes three months after the two nations held military exercises on Venezuelan soil that President Nicolas Maduro called a sign of strengthening relations, but which Washington criticized as Russian encroachment in the region.

Reporter Javier Mayorca wrote on Twitter on Saturday that the first plane carried Vasily Tonkoshkurov, chief of staff of the ground forces, adding the second was a cargo plane carrying 35 tonnes of material.
An Ilyushin IL-62 passenger jet and an Antonov AN-124 military cargo plane left for Caracas on Friday from Russian military airport Chkalovsky, stopping along the way in Syria, according to flight-tracking website Flightradar24.
The cargo plane left Caracas on Sunday afternoon, according to Adsbexchange, another flight-tracking site.

The flights carried officials who arrived to “exchange consultations,” wrote Russian government-owned news agency Sputnik, which quoted an unnamed source at the Russian embassy.

“Russia has various contracts that are in the process of being fulfilled, contracts of a technical military character,” Sputnik quoted the source as saying.

A Reuters witness saw what appeared to be the passenger jet at the Maiquetia airport on Sunday.

Venezuela’s Information Ministry did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Russia’s Defense Ministry and Foreign Ministry did not reply to messages seeking comment. The Kremlin spokesman also did not reply to a request for comment.

The Trump administration has levied crippling sanctions on the OPEC nation’s oil industry in efforts to push Maduro from power and has called on Venezuelan military leaders to abandon him. Maduro has denounced the sanctions as U.S. interventionism and has won diplomatic backing from Russia and China.

In December, two Russian strategic bomber aircraft capable of carrying nuclear weapons landed in Venezuela in a show of support for Maduro’s socialist government that infuriated Washington.

Maduro on Wednesday said Russia would send medicine “next week” to Venezuela, without describing how it would arrive, adding that Moscow in February had sent some 300 tonnes of humanitarian aid.

Venezuela in February had blocked a convoy carrying humanitarian aid for the crisis-stricken country that was coordinated with the team of opposition leader Juan Guaido, including supplies provided by the United States, from entering via the border with Colombia.

NT has right-wing ads now? Methodical Management Methodical Management

The vast majority of online ads are distributed by networks, not booked individually like television or magazine advertisements.

The networks that we use can determine which ad to serve using a number of different potential factors, like page context.

This article explains how Google's system works: https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/9713?hl=en

If an ad is offensive or abusive in some way, we can act to block it within whatever network(s) served it, but we don't know in advance which ads will be served on which pages for which users.

I hope that helps you understand why an ad like that would appear in a political thread on our forums. It's not a "direct sale."

Given that GOP/MAGA has spent the past 2 years telling us that this was all a witch hunt perpetrated by the deep state and rich Democrats like Soros, can we now spend the next 2 years telling them that this was all a smoke and mirrors ploy by Republicans to help the president get away with treason?

Robert Mueller is a Republican.

Rod Rosenstein is a Republican.

Jefferson Sessions is a Republican.

William Barr is a Republican.

To date, only a handful of Republicans have stood up to Trump publicly. This is despite widespread discontent among the party and a deep dislike of Trump among many elected Republican officials.

Presumably the same treasonous powers that conspired to get Trump elected are also holding kompromat over many elected and appointed Republican officials, forcing them to toe the party line. Essentially the GOP as a whole has been blackmailed to ensure that Trump skates, that only a few meaningless associates take the fall (like Paul Manafort), and that the country stomachs the greatest government conspiracy of our lifetimes without even one significant resignation.

Don't fall for it. Don't give up. Vote. And don't forget, we still have an ace in the hole (Nasty Nancy). This is not over. It's only just beginning.

It's a good thing this came out now and not closer to the election, that's for sure.

Gives the dems time to come up with a strategy because they're going to need it in 2020.

Supreme Court refuses to hear mystery grand jury fight
The Supreme Court on Monday refused to hear an appeal from a mystery company over a grand jury subpoena tied to special counsel Robert Mueller’s now completed Russia probe.

The justices gave no explanation for denying the request that was submitted by the company and there were no notable dissents from the nine-member court. It takes four justices to agree to hear a case.

The federal grand jury subpoena, which is being kept under seal along with related court filings, seeks information from a corporation owned by a foreign government, known in court filings only as “Country A.”
The Supreme Court in January refused to block the contempt order, which forced the company to comply with the subpoena.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals had upheld the order holding the company in contempt despite its arguments that it was immune from the subpoena under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FISA) and that the subpoena is unreasonable and oppressive because it would force the corporation to violate domestic law.

The court’s decision comes just days after Mueller announced he had completed his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election and whether there was any collusion with the Trump campaign.

Over the weekend Attorney General William Barr sent a letter to Congress announcing that Mueller's investigation "did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities."
