Good ole Mitch

This reminds me of the old fable about the tortoise and the hare.

The hare can run fast and is sometimes lazy because he is arrogant about his speed. The tortoise is a giant ****head who deserves all the bad things in life to happen to him and only him.

The worst thing is that the quote is bad, but only gets worse when you watch the whole clip and see it in context. Like he couldn't shut the **** up but he just kept talking. He basically said that, if a slaveowner was alive today, reparations would be how we would go about punishing someone for owning fellow American citizens as property with no legal rights. That is what he considers reparations to be. It's all about being punitive in his mind, and absurdly minimally punitive. Like hey, OJ murdered those two people, let's do the worst thing imaginable and tax his vehicle emissions or require him to register his assault rifle. That would be cruel and unusual punishment in Turtle's tiny little reptilian brain. Oh wait, OJ is black? Shoot him up, no questions.

And why does Mitch even get a say on anything f of the sort? Boys like him get the least say about anything of that matter.

Let me add another exception to your rule:

It is from 2014, but I think it goes hand in hand with your link.
Yup, another good piece. It's actually from the same author, too

I feel like he's basically making similar arguments that Rusty and even Liz Warren often make about well-regulated capitalism. The really interesting thing to me here is that many of the central arguments for socialism are already embedded in Hanauer's positions, if only he took those positions further to (what I would consider to be) their more logical conclusions. I will leave that conversation for another day, but here's one passage where he really hit the nail on the head and where I think, if teased out just a bit further, clearly points in that direction:

The oldest and most important conflict in human societies is the battle over the concentration of wealth and power. The folks like us at the top have always told those at the bottom that our respective positions are righteous and good for all. Historically, we called that divine right. Today we have trickle-down economics.

Anyone else watch our PRESIDENT ELECT's rally yesterday? Crooked H won't be our PRESIDENT no matter how much Libs hope for it and cry about it. Lots of High Energy #BLACKS4TRUMP rhetoric going on. Libs are Toast. No OBSTRUCTION, no COLLUSION, not GUILTY.
