People really think that alchoholism is a disease?

What's your point? Do you have no insight on the subject except for saying seriously?

i swear to goodness if i hear this @@%% one more time .... there is nothing addicting about alcohol ... it isnt a plague or a medical oddity ... its a weakmother $@!!#@ not being able to put the bottle down ...

this is the reason why i have no words for my father ... this is the reason why i cant even look my fiances father in his eye when i talk to him ... i have norespect for people that cant control themselves and blame it on "alcoholism" ...

i guess i should start saying that i have marijuannaism...and mcdonaldsism to

Disease no...but, I think some people are predisposed to have a harder time dealing with it physiologically.

i view it in the same way as i do drug addiction...

its just the person being too weak to stop themselves...

n human beings, "disease" is often used more broadly to refer to any condition that causes extreme pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, and/or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function, while in other contexts and for other purposes these may be considered distinguishable categories.

By labeling it a disease you can charge your insurance for treatment. Or so I was told by an AA counselor.

Splitting hairs.

"Normal" people drink.

Alcoholics drink and drink and drink and drink and drink..... to a point where they can kill themselves.

Don't tell me it's not a disease.

Maybe not along the same terms as cancer, but a disease nonetheless.

It is a very real disease. My pops went through rehab twice, and finally got his life back on track. During this time I went to numerous meetings for familyof alcoholics.

It's not that they are weak, or don't want to stop, its not that easy. They are dependent of a chemical, just like a drug they can be addicted to it,they cant function without it.
