It depends where you live I guess. I got mine on my first try in VA. Drivers ed and a lil study you should pass, drivers ed helped me a lot

What's the process I have to go through to get my license now ?
Depends on your state. In VA you have to have a permit for 1 year and 6 months before you can get your license. Drivers ed in school isn't required but it def. help. If you can look into traffice school. They offer in car training. It might be better than practicing with your parents who can make you really nervous. You need 40 hrs of in car training w/10 of them @ night.
So basically . I just have to start with my parents helping ?
