I'm jealous of dontsteponmyshoes and s dubl's beards. I need to learn how to shape my beard like that, taper / trim the sides and keep the bottom part of the beard longer.

brolic scholar, you kinda look like the cia agent from the James Bond movies.

I trim the beard with scissors. YOU DONT?

Nope all clipper everything!

I just use different sized guards. Usually the 0 guards, and no guards at all for the taper...and a 3 guard for the chin and sides. Ive been growing for a year but trim up every few days I never really let my beard get longer than this length. One of these days once im gainfully employed Ill let it grow out length wise.

You gotta learn to be your own barber. West coast barbers suck. :x When I first moved to San Diego from VA, I was shocked by how bad all the barbers are. They have no idea how to provide that clean east coast cut. :{ The fades out here... :x Patchy like a quilt.

I'll update with my progress monthly. About to bring the curl to beard combo back.

Not all west coast barbers suck, you prob went to the wrong place or your guy didnt know how to cut properly. when i didnt have a beard i would get a hot towel shave every single time i went in. took me about 30-45 for a cut. they took their time and s*** was on point.

Most of them do though.

I've been in SD for 13 years and have been to multiple shops. One of my biggest gripes was sideburns. They all tried to hook me up with the icepick sideburns even though that wasn't my look.

I'm sure there are some good ones, but the bad apples ruined the bunch for me. If you have ever gotten an east coast cut, you would know how different it can be. Dudes will take an hour perfecting your look and razor line you up.

I've been cut in VA and NY and even though I prefer Cali for the lifestyle, you can't beat the east coast for cuts.

Anyone gonna do no shave november? Also does anyone use bumpstopper or just try to cut it low enough to where razor bumps don't show? I've done it before but nothing beats that smooth baby soft skin where you can't feel stubble.

I had the same barber from the time i got my first cut til I graduated HS growing up in Cali. I used to study him in the chair though and when I moved to Colorado I didnt even want to risk it because I got that good hurr. Ive seen barbers destroy mixed kids cuts not realizing you have to go against the grain ect ect. so since then Ive always done it myself.

I have soft/curly hair too and cowlicks, sobarber can have me looking doofy in a second not knowing how to cut. I've even had barbers straight up tell me that they don't know how to cut my "kind of hair" and had me sit in another chair. :{

I've since learned to cut my own. Been rocking the baldy for a few years, but I'm bringing the hair back even though it's a lil thin in the middle. F it.

Just moved to Arizona...first hair cut out here. Nothing like my barber back home in VA, but it will suffice for now.

He didn't clean up the beard as sharp as I'm accustomed to.

I can do a respectable job on myself and am good with the razor for my beard, but it's never has good as another set of skilled hands.

I usually get a temp fade and my Barber of 13+ years back home hooks it up like clock work.

I'll adapt or adjust out here and make it work for now.

Steady growin a goatee

All the chicks i ever messed with love stroking it :smokin, so thats about 3

Tho Im aspiring to grow a beard im guessing its coming when im 30+, im envious of yall in here
