i just can't see myself with a very expensive bike, i couldn't trust myself with it...be dropping it and leaving it outside the stores/bodega
but to each his own...some of these bikes are

this is my CHEAP beach cruiser...take it around and just ride real real real slow around nyc

07 Trek 4300 from craigslist for 200, changed the tires & grips.
I ride a medium skilled trail in North Jersey every Sunday morning & then cruise thru NYC afterwards. IM me.

So, a fixed gear is a better workout on your legs; where as a single speed allows you to be a little lazy?

I just stumbled upon this great site for biking gear; chainlove.com. I just ordered the Oakley MTB shorts for more than 50% off.
 
That Bianchi is far from 6k. Could probably be built for $1200.

- Gitane fixie built from frame (columbus steel frame)
- Marin palisades urban bike torn down from MTB and rebuilt as city bike
- Vintage Raleigh 3 speed cruiser
