I'm in the process of trying to adopt one of these guys, but it's a harder and longer process than I thought. Plus, trying to hunt down a big, sturdy,nice cage for less than $800-$1100 is hard. (Gotta have a very hefty duty cage for macaws) I want the guy on the left, but he is awating adoption. If hisadopters get denied, then I'm trying for the other. They are STRICT with adoptions. Tons of paperwork. Take a test. If I fail the test, I have to take aclass

. They are going to drive 2 hours to view where he will be. Vetcheck ups every month or I void the "contract"....

The "small" fee will make it all worth it though. A bird already trained, 10-12 years old (They live up to 60 years), used to adults and kids. If Ibought one from a shop, it would cost $1200-$2000....

Birds are cool, but they need more attention than kids do. Hours a day, I can't devote that kind of time to one.
