roti appreciation

Curry chicken and Roti>>>>>>>>I gotta call my aunt now I want some.Maybe cause its Jamaican and I'm biased but everything that I've had Indian variants that we make is subpar in comparison

Can someone explain to me what this is? Is it a Jamaican dish? Basically like a pita and ingredients?

roti is basically flour+ water + some oil rolled out into a flatbread  and then put into a pan coated with oil or ghee and it forms a into a thin crust.  It's cooked and both sides and clapped (I still have no idea if this really makes a difference

)

Super simple.  It comes from India but it's a staple for us west-indians and other cultures like in thailand, singapore, malaysia...etc.  Thai places serve it with some peanut curry...

Roti is like the gun and the different curries are the ammo.

Had some roti from this Trini spot somewhere in Queens....don't know the spices they used, but my nose would not stop running for like 30 min after I finished eating. +%## was HOT.

My body is ready

I've only had roti when I went to Indian restaurants.  I just dip them into the sauce of whatever dish I ordered.

This dude Double talking about Queens and eating roti that made him tear up yet he probably hasn't had doubles yet.  The next time your going to a west-indian place...ask them for doubles...the pic you posted up there looks like dahl-pouri, shrimp and potato curry.  Potato curry isn't anything to eff with.

And for people talking about how much protein roti has it's like asking how much protein is in rice.  Roti is not a stand alone dish it's meant to go with dahl which is just yellow split peas turned into a soup...dahl def has protein in it.  BLEE DAT.

Afghan Roti is the BOMB at family gatherings. You can put any meat in there. I love lamb or chicken, with extra spicy curry in there. Unfortunately, I end up taking burning dumps several days after. Not fun at all.

Trollin
Not trolling Brah. I grew up in St. Lucia, I have been eating Roti all my life. The way Jamaicans and Trini people make Roti is different. The Curry filling is never favored right, it's always way greasier and the shell is different(closer to a baritto shell) than Trini Roti
Jamaicans never want to hear this but, Trinidadians are better cooks.............and their women look better
