I got a ticket that came out to be around 400 dollars and a couple points on my license for going 80 in a 65. They more than likely won't cut you any slackbecause that's excessive speeding, so expect a high %!@ fee.

Not sure how it works in Cali, but I was popped doing 98 in a 55 in PA. Here, if you are popped by a state trooper they don't really do trials unless yourequest one. They send one trooper to handle all of the tickets, and basically he cuts everybody a break if it's your first ticket. I hired a lawyer andmy ticket was amended to 65 in a 55. If I were you I'd try and visit the traffic court where you'll have to appear a few weeks in advance to see theprocess, and how forgiving/lenient they are for first time offenders. In my case I think I wasted money on a lawyer, as I'm sure the trooper would havegiven me the same deal without one, but I was looking at a suspension(anything 31+ is automatic suspension here) and didn't think I had a choice.
