I read the whole thing and I'm on your side. She should be happy you invited her to hang out with you at the dunes in the first place. In fact, I thoughtyou were being courteous and looking out for her and her kid by telling her she can drive separately if she wants to. Too bad you didn't get the chance totell her you would also drive with her and leave if a situation came up. Did you get a chance to tell her that? If no, it's still not too late to tell her.By the way, I don't think you are putting her last but then again I only have this story to go off of.
