New international Version is the easiest to get a hold of when it comes to understanding. Get a study one first, something that has tips and helps to tell you what to read depending on what you feel or can be going through. Those help a lot.

KJV is the version closest to the original in English with the concordance and all....

what exactly are you looking for? A bible that is easy to understand? Or one like the KJV? Because you can read that, but if you are not used to the style of writing it can draw you away. I personally have a greater attention span (the best way to put it i guess) for the NIV but it varies with everyone.

Use a KJV and a concordance. It will help u understand what u don't know. A study Bible is also a great way. Also, here's is a little tid bit. Everything in the Bible can be related to life today. It's more so about how u interpret it. There's lesson's throughout the whole book.
