Lens suggestions for shooting a concert type event? Taking photos of the artists playing, as well as general photos of all people in the place.

I'm assuming it's going to be somewhat dark. Looking in to borrowing a speedlight if I'm allowed to use one.
Edit: My bad, forgot to say. I'm using a Nikon D5000.

A fast zoom would work. Can't suggest a lens without knowing which camera you have.

Only thing I use is a beanbag called the newborn nest, specifically made for these shots....that and LOTS OF PATIENCE....thank you for the kind feedback.

^^ thats pretty dope, Nikon P300 is now on my radar, looking for a decent low light point and shoot and was debating the fuji x10 but those shots are pretty impressive, may have to do some more research

Did some Christmas photos with my cousin's family inspired by (500) Days of Summer.
