i had the bloated battery on my mb 2007 ... i had a cracked casing due to a defect in the construction on the white mb ... i've had my computer crash 2x b/c of apple updates ... macs aren't immune to problems ... i like the software and how it runs with the OS ... that is what does it for me ... i've had problems on both windows and Macs ...
apple did replace the casing and the battery for free though
i'll get a new ipod touch next year ... and if a company doesn't come out with a folding tablet that i like with a pen in the next 6 months i'll look at an ipad ...
apple makes good stuff ... but it's not the end all be all that people make it out to be
I also can build PCs ... i'm not building a laptop though ... my mbp will do just fine

Anyways... This thread accelerated my want to build my own computer.
Thanks to some good info from CWrite I will probably get a jump on it sooner rather than later.

Anyways... This thread accelerated my want to build my own computer.

Im a mac owner but not a fan boy by any means. I enjoy it, but i do want to build my own computer as well. Ill probably get to that when i have time and build a windows based computer.
its just depressing when mac people go after WINDOWS for HARDWARE problems when the HARDWARE has to do with the company distributing it. (sony, HP, etc)
I like my mac because i had the money to buy one, no problem, and it does its job, (browsing internet, music, school, recordings) and im sure Windows can do the same.
just my preference for the moment.
But i feel that ill have both eventually.
But some of these's people's stances are horrible

I built my own way back in the day. It's not really a gaming, though I guess I could. I mostly just do normal user stuff on it. I really just did it to say I did. I got an ATX tower though which was a mistake, $%@$ is like 3ft tall.

But Macs to me just aren't worth it. The viruses argument is worthless as well. You don't even need to be a pro, but just novice level and should be able to avoid catching viruses no matter how many p2p and porns you download. Just download AVG which is free or MalwareBytes.
I agree about a lot of PC laptops being made of cheap plastic, but that's all relative to the pricepoint they were made to come in at and the specs which directly goes back to the pricepoint. I have a Samsung that is made of brushed aliminum and not plastic with an i5 and Nvidia Geforce Cuda GPU and 4gb of ddr3.
The i5 Macbook costs 1800$ and you only get 2gb
