Worst Divison in Baseball?

You know the Rangers are in the West right?
laugh.gif

First Divison i thought about was the NL Central .. though i like Pujols and the cardinals ...

Usually I bash on the AL West, since the Angels have been the only competitive team during the latter part of the decade.  Also the fact that it's the only 4 team division in baseball.

However, the Rangers will finally reap the benefits of their farm system and the Mariners have built a solid squad.

I would go with either Central Division.

AL Central. When the division champs have 87 wins, that's pretty crappy.

No way the AL West should be on this list. Seriously? Angels, Rangers, and M's are all solid squads.

but anyhow the dodgers decided to be cheap and get worse, the giants didn't do much do improve on the good season they had last year, the rockies stayed the same,  the diamondbacks made some decent moves but i don't think their ready to contend and the padres are the padres.  if im wrong im wrong i won't make no excuses but i hope im wrong, even though im a mets fan, i wanna go to as many dodger playoff games as i can this season like i've done the past 2 playoffs

AL Central hands down. Although I am pretty sure there was a year recently where an NL west team won the division barely breaking .500...

So basically in a thread discussing "the" worst division in baseball you decided to name 2/3 of the divisions... So only the East is legit? No bias there I assume

Yeah.  The Dodgers.  In 2008.  Barely broke .500......swept the number 1 seed in the divisional series, and lost to the World Series Champions.  The NL West has been a staple of the NLCS in recent memory.  4 teams in the last 3 years.  Just sayin.....

We didn't get any better, but worse?

The 2005 Padres went 82-80 and won the West.

However, how is that relevant?

The following year the Cardinals went 83-79 and went on to win the World Series.

In 2008 the Dodgers went 84-78, won the West and beat the 97 win Cubs.

none really,   al east has 3 strong teams and 2 which are a threat to win the world series, nl east has a legit world series team, a team who IF HEALTHY is a legit contender, and solid teams in the braves and marlins.   every east team is good or should be good except the blue jays, orioles, and nationals.

nl central has the cardinals,    possibly the cubs,    maybe the brewers, and crap.

al central has the twins,    maybe the tigers and crap

nl west has the dodgers who got worse, the rockies, a slightly above average team in the giants,  and crap

al west has the angels who should be good, the mariners who look good on paper, the rangers who should win about 85 games and crap.

maybe if anything, i'd take the al west off that worst divison list but thats about it.

Talk bad about the AL West all you want, but all the pitching in that division will eat up the AL Central.

The Dodgers lost in the NLCS so take them out of the equation. The Rockies are a slightly above average team? They won the Wild Card. The Giants aren't too shabby either.

you mentioned 3 al west teams and say crap after that when there is 4 teams in that division. the a's arent that bad they just got alot of young players and good pitching.
