I don't think Meltzer prizes technical perfection above everything else when it comes to rating matches. He probably evenly weighs that factor along with crowd atmosphere and the importance of the result. Like this match has a bit of sloppy move execution, yet Big Dave gave it a full rating because of the insane crowd and the result of the match.Originally Posted by 4wrestling

First of all... ++%@ that nerd Meltzer. Second of all...
Punk/Cena was 5*. (I definitely agree with him on this one) The biggest botch was the GTS to the ribs of Cena. Given the fact that they didn't plan any spots (for the most part 'shoot' wrestled), given the atmosphere.. that %#!$ was 5* no doubt. I just re-watched that match 3 weeks ago. So. GOOD.
I wouldn't rate matches higher of lower based on work rate "sloppiness" or ring psychology. A great match is a great match period.
