OFFICIAL NT CAT THREAD

I have no problem with cats but I am not sure I would go to a pet store and buy one but I couldn't leave the little man on the streets to die; they have always been cool to me, I grew up around both dogs and cats

I think people who genuinely hate cats have never actually had one; it's amazing how many people aren't cat people but they end up loving my cat and play with him when they come over

one way to get the P in da morning

it's funny my cat goes from tame to wild; my man will run around the crib at night like a wild man

he likes to wake me up with paws to the face which I don't mind most of the time but when it annoys me he goes into the bathroom for the night but he's still cool as hell and friendly as can be

you can tell he is very appreciative that I rescued him

That is why people love and hate cats at the same time. I think it's neat personally to know you have a pet that still has that animal instinct like a real lion or tiger. Like all I have to do is run my fingers across the ground like a spider and his eyes just swell up and he gets in attack stance. It's like he can't even stop it from happening even if he wanted to.

And my cat does that in the morning to wake me and my girl up. He just literally taps his paws on us asking to be fed. He's a loud SOB too and just cries about it.

will be buying the fam a bengal cat soon.. been looking at/researching them for a few months.

anybody have a bengal? :nerd:

My ex had one.. expensive mf'er.. cost thousands. It was either a bengal, or there is another exotic one too.. really large version.  But it was kinda cool. It never really shed. And she could walk it almost like a dog. Downside is, you dont want to get clawed or bit by one..

Edit- Just Google'd, it was either a Bengal or a Savannah.

Mine is the same exact way and soon as I fed him he's back to chill

He's actually learned to push my closet door because it sways and will crash into the other sliding door so it'll make me feed him

a lot of hyperactivity and misbehavior in cats is because they don't get enough exercise.

cop a laser pointer or a toy mouse on a fishing line type deal and play with your cats in the morning/afternoon and before bed.

^^^^^I agree. Also don't shelter your cat if you get it as a kitten. Expose it to humans as much as possible cause if you keep him indoors and away from others, he will learn to hate everyone but you. My cat his whole life has lived in a small studio with no windows to the world. Because of that, he is scared of every damn human that is not me and my girl and we can't snap it out of him.

Do you guys use lazers? Recently bought one and used it for a good 15 minutes. Noticed she got very aggressive afterwards. I did some googling and it's kinda bad since it triggers an dopamine effect. In the long term play time won't be as fun ....

Any thoughts?

^^^^^^I wonder if it is more has to do with kittens than grown cats. My cat gets into lasers but not as crazy when he was a kitten and he's only 4 right now. I have a beanie baby that he likes a lot and seems to do the trick. He goes crazy on it for like a couple of minutes and then just leaves it alone.

I believe cats should never be exclusively kept indoors. The cats I had when I was a teen were indoor/outdoor cats that climbed roofs, trees, hunted birds and fought other cats over mates. Indoor cats are annoying as F. Climbing on the kitchen counter :x
Laying in your bed :x laying on the couch :x
Cats are inherently street cats :smokin

When we had just gotten our first cat I wanted to get a laser to mess with it. Wife and I went to the store and I slapped that bish on the checkout. Cashier at petco was like "I would feel bad if I let you purchase this without telling you the negative effects it has on the cat" he proceeded to tell us it causes all kinds of mental issues and anxiety as the cat never catches it. He had a cat that went crazy always looking for it when he wasn't even playing with it. Died at like 2 years old when he stopped eating and sleeping supposedly.

There was no way I was gonna let my wife have that as an excuse to hang over my head anytime something was wrong with the cat. Walked out empty handed.

Seriously can see that happening. After I stop, she'll sit there looking and pouncing around to get it. This goes for about hours.

How else can I implement play time

As far as you actively playing with the cat, this is your best bet. You can still have them chase it like a laser but it has the benefit of being physical and something you can let them catch once in a while. My lil homies would go cray for this thing, sometime even ripping it out of my hand and dragging it around the house pole and all lol.

However, My cat also showed some aggressive tendencies afterward, similar to your experience with the laser. He would growl when he got it in his mouth, it freaked me out. So I don't play with it anymore. But he loved it.

Used to be one of those exclusively dogs > cats guys. Mainly because all the cats I had interactions with as a kid were from when I'd be at a friends house and they were total ******* that hissed and tried to claw me. Assumed they were all the same.

My fiancee had mostly cats growing up and the more I went over to her place, the more they grew on me. I first just loved to sneak and scare the absolute crap out of them. **** was hilarious even for a grown man.

Eventually, I got past scaring them every chance I got and tried to get them to act like a dog, by jumping on my lap or playing catch or whatever, which is when I realized how cool and unique each cats' personality was.

Fast forward a few years and me and my fiancee have two cats -- one of which is a kitty we took home last week -- and they're my  buddies.

My dude Digit has those extra toes and whatnot, but he's like a regular ol' Larry Fitzgerald with them paws. snatches anything tossed his way. Just got Jasmine (Jazz or Jazzy for short and jazzercise because she's crazy quick with non-stop energy. I feel like I had a workout after chasing her around). I'll post pics if I can tomorrow.
