Although I'm in SF, I don't venture to downtown. So it's pretty minimal for me as well. I just go to a spot with 3 lures and park there catching as many I can within an hour.

Take over two gyms, collect, dip. Batch my evolutions, and continue. I'm not leveling up anything just quite yet. Caught a Raichu today though

I havent really messed around with the gyms yet so forgive me if my question is dumb but....u get to collect coins and dust as soon as you put your mon into a gym? i thought it was put a mon into gym, then have to hold it down for 20 hours or something to collect.

if i get to collect at the beginning, shoooooooot im about to go take on some gyms. i needs me a bag upgrade and i aint tryin to pay for it...

^^ Further more if you aren't aware yet, once you assign a Mon to a gym, you have a shield in the Shop (top right corner) with an indication of how many Mon you have assigned to different gyms. The way to capitalize on this is to take down rival gyms or amp up friendly gyms (where teams and teamwork are important) and increase that shield number before you cash out. You can cash out anytime you like but once you do, you can't cash out for another 20-ish hours.

This way, people can't take down/ramp up one gym, cash out, another gym, cash out, and another etc. You must take down as many gyms as you can before cashing out to get higher Dust/Coin bonuses since you can only do it once a day. However, at any point you don't cash out and your Mon gets kicked out, you get nothing from that gym. So it's a race against time.

wow i didnt know about the once per day. i was hyped to go out and beat 10 gyms and collect 10 times, very useful info man, greatly appreciated. repped u as well

You can evolve about 60 mons in 30 minutes so that should be minimum 60k exp. If some evolve to new mons you don't have yet, that's another couple grand. So it's possible

Ive been doing that and just dont feel like evolving a thousand pidgeys then trashing them

Yeah I did that through 20+ levels.. Been at 23 for at least a week. Only 10k away from 24 but that even feels like a long ways away :lol:

I'm more concerned with filling myPokédex over anything at the moment.

Got that pub crawl this week for Pokemon go :pimp:

I dont like it either, its just bad game mechanics

I really think Niantic is trying to curb Pidgey farming by increasing their dodge and run rates ever since that first update. Not saying it prevents you from doing it, but it makes the system less efficient.

National Mall should be good, had a friend tell me he found a bunch of rare ones near the FDR Memorial recently

You should def hit downtown, esp Embarcadero. It's constant lures and after 2 days going down there, i finally got enough Magikarp candies for a Gyrados. Also found a few Dratinis. I've been unlucky in finding those. Pier 39 was esp lit.

I wanna hit up Fort Mason, as well. I've been seeing that they have Squirtles there from PokemonRadarGo, not sure how accurate it is, but I still wanna go.

Crissy Field let me down. They moved the Bulbasaur nest when I was there last week.
