Can you cook? ??

I'm probably about a 5.

I can cook good stuff but compared to what some of my relatives can cook I'm mediocre....My best dishes are jerk chicken and curry chicken. I can't make roti for ****, and whenever I cook the goat by myself its always sliiiiiightly too tough. And i need to get better at cooking without using salt. Its my weakness. I rely on it too much.

If you can cook a good curry chicken, then your skills are better than 5 in my book.

I can follow a recipe, but don't know how to adjust if the dish seems to be missing/lacking something.

Grilling is an 8 though. My main problem was overcooking, getting better at getting a char without ending up with a meat puck.

I'm decent. Half the time I feel like my food should taste a lot better than how it turns out.

My mother never used recipes or measured anything. She learned to cook from my Great Granny who was the same.

It was eye test, scent, taste and just knowing what goes good together, so watching her that's how I learned to cook.

Only problem is when I make something TRULY good I can never recreate it perfectly

 Same way with her too.

Food is always good but sometimes it's just extraordinary and the next time she makes it, it won't be. It'll just be good again.

He's talking about this kind of cooking

i don't know really.

all i cook is meat and veggies. easiest thing in the world.

I'm probably a 7.

I have enough skills to tackle most recipes, I'm solid with a knife, a good palate so I can tweak and adjust when cooking. I don't think I'm that creative or know how to pair things too well. So if you were to ask what flavors work best with what.. I could come up with some ideas, but I'm still a novice if I had to create my own recipe or dish 100% from scratch.

I can whip up some mean desserts, though. My ice cream is awesome, I make great cannoli too.

I try to do a new recipe or dish once a week or so. I've been perfecting my steaks recently since I finally got a cast iron pan. I made a BOMB steak sandwich that I was particularly proud of. I actually just finished making blueberry muffins for the first time. Turned out pretty good too.

I'll say a 7. I can make traditional Puerto Rican meals to your everyday American meals. Also, like to try and make different recipes.

I'm a terrible Baker though.

I'd say a solid 7 out of 10, creole influence. I've been cooking since I was a kid and initially wanted to be a chef.

Few feelings are better than completing a great dish for friends and family.

Lol NTrs are all 7 in the kitchen?

Not hating but,

You guys know what a 7 is? Just cuz you can grill or spice a chicken, definitely not a 7.

Shout out to Comcast. My family only had basic cable (local channels) growing up, but for whatever reason Food Network worked. Watched a lot of Ming Tsai and Alton Brown during summers off from school even though I was like 12 at the time

Too lazy to actually cook, my GF left for a week and I almost starved.

Overall I'd say 6/10 due to lack of knowledge on many dishes. I only know how to make so much, but the stuff I do know how to make is great.

Steaks are 10/10 every time tho. :smokin

I'd say that I'm a solid 8. When I moved into my own place, I missed my mom's cooking. Filipino restaurants were kinda far away, and I figured that learning to make things at home would be cheaper anyway. If there was ever something that I wanted to learn how to make, I would just watch a youtube video about it. Once you get the basic techniques down, you can cook anything. I had an ex who's Mexican, and I learned a lot from her mom, as well.

Cooking skills will get you da yambs. :smokin
