If you're cutting longer hair or basically anything longer than a #4 guard i'd highly recommend the Wahl 5 Star Seniors. You can find them here

If you're looking to fade/taper then I'd highly recommend the Andis Fade Master. You can find them here

Keep in mind that with the right guards and technique you can achieve a very clean taper/fade or long cut/blend with either one of those 2 that I recommended. Most barber's use both but since your not cutting all day you don't have to worry about over working the motor and other problems so you will be fine with either one of those two. Also shop around because the links i provided are more than likely not the cheapest examples but I just used the first link I can find so you can see which models I am referring to.

Look at how to "Zero gap" your blades so you can get an even crispier blend on your fades. Very simple to do and it defiantly improves the over all quality of the fade, That is if you have the eye to see the difference. Most people don't and that's perfectly fine too. Not everybody is crazy about their cuts.

To finish your cut you will need an outliner for the small finishing details. These two that I'm going to provide a link for can pretty much do the best job at giving you a very straight clean line. You can't find a better outliner than these two so it's pretty much preference when it comes to deciding which one.
