yo i been eating sushi for awhile and just now started getting into the shashimi
but the question i have is why does the place i get my sushi from put cream cheese in almost all they rolls? I just want rice in mines. is there some story behind the cream cheese?
and another question when it says smelt roe on the menu for sushi are they talking about the orange looking eggs or the actual roe?

Usually it's only the "Philly Roll" that has cream cheese. Substitute it out on the others..

Yes, and I thought the king crab sushi was delicious. Scallop was good too, and actually sweeter than I had expected.Gonna post some pics later tonight. Any of y'all had king crab or scallop sushi

Yeah. I'll pass on that spot serving cream cheese all willy nilly. Fortunately most NYC spots I've been to don't have a menu that looks like that.

Philly roll is my go to always. Love that stuff and double salmon with some sriracha. I hate the deep fried rolls though.

If every roll they had was a variation of a philly roll then it would make sense. I'm not even a fan of philly rolls because the cream cheese doesn't taste good with sushi.

No sushi pics, but I had a Sushirrito when I was in SF last year. Definitely recommend if you're trying to ease yourself into eating sushi. Spicy tuna nachos were bomb as well.
Apparently they have something similar out here in NYC but it's not as good.
