Last Emperor feat. Poetic and Esthero

Poetic died of colon cancer in 2001 shortly after recording this song. He raps about his struggle... really sad.

It tends to be the complete picture sonically that makes me feel a certain way, particularly production and how it all comes together with the lyrics.

That's what so powerful about rap man. You get the musical side like you do in other genres + that unfiltered raw human emotion articulated by the artist.

These are some that always touch me. It was hard not to just post classic Bay Area joints. All yall know is hyphy but the real Bay sound of the 2000's is that melancholy real life emotional rap. Dudes like the Jacka, Andre Nickatina, Joe Blow, HD etc.

Mind playing tricks on me

Pour out a little liquor

But hands down - DRS - gangsta lean :frown: hits home all too well.

Murs - A Friend's Blues

"Some say that God takes them and they lean on mythology, but I choose to believe that it's divine lottery, I can't believe God's lookin' down, waitin' to slaughter me, I can't live in fear and I can't live here forever, so I treasure every moment..." [emoji]128591[/emoji]
