The 10 Most Expensive Places to Raise a Family in the United States

Bruh, them trash *** roundabouts actually made traffics worse

All they had to do was fix the potholes, but nah. They had to go and make everything even more complicated

I'm currently in a 1 bedroom apartment in Suffolk county and I'm paying out the nose for rent I'd never buy a house out here. It is too damn expensive to live on LI as it is

Where is Suffolk you at? There are cheap parts but they are also bad areas I am living in suffolk as well need two strong incomes to buy a house out here. Could be worse we could be living in nassau where they have to pay like 15k or more in real estate taxes...

I seriously doubt a METRO stop will be put at The Harbor. Back in the 90s, there were discussions about building a Metro right IN Georgetown but it was said that they didn't want a certain crowd to have access to that area.

I can see that line of thinking being applied here.

Ain't no way that's getting done by 2021 . That's a HUGE project and you see how long it took em to build that small strech for the silver line. And 75% of that just follows the freeway.

More like 2025

 yea...that was deadded. Said Foggy Bottom and Rosslyn were close enough.

That is a sweet lil route man. The Riverdale stop should help out lots of folks in that area.

This is a good thread man

the Purple Line is not part of the Metro so any and all building issues are solely within MD...it would be owned and operated by the Maryland Transit Authority so they don't need approval or have to deal with WMATA (at least I don't think they do)...

there is lots of support up until the Chevy Chase/Bethesda area stops and since that is essentially the richest area of the state, they wield a significant amount of power and have been trying to curb the process...

The Purple line is the best option for PG to Moco travel. Sucked commuting from New Carrolton to Rockville. No reason you have to go from MD -> DC -> MD.

The damn governor was blocking on that east/west light rail here in Baltimore :smh: ...woulda been so clutch

It's not apart of WMATA, but it has locations that connect with WMATA lines, and connects with all MARC lines.

It will be great for MD, for sure.

Southern PG will get some more metro stops once its more gentrified lol I am sure of it.

Random...but I just read that a Whole Foods is coming to Tyson's that will be the largest in the region. Crazy to think what the Tyson's area will look like in 10-15 years. Probably something like Dubai

dc area needs some tall buildings...stupid height limit in dc so they can't really build up so might as well get some tall buildings in the surrounding areas

proposed CEB Tower in Rosslyn...30 stories

Rosslyn and Crystal City are weird...from the outside looking in, you'd think these areas would be poppin' after work, on weekends, etc....but both places are pretty much dead once the work day ends. Nothing really around there to keep folks around for nightlife. Yea...there's Clarendon and DC a short distance away, but still....

Agreed. Both locations would be popping with bars and a better nightlife. I can see crystal city getting there one day. Lord knows I ain't going into crystal city restaurant, biggest tease ever!!!!

UPDATED 02/06/15

Since the delivery of a few projects between 2008-2009 (in the midst of the recent recession) there had been no new residential or commercial development projects completed in downtown Bethesda, Maryland. That changed just two weeks ago with the opening of the 17-story  Gallery Bethesda  apartment building in the Woodmont Triangle district. The Gallery is just the first in a slew of new high-density development projects to be constructed over the next few years in downtown Bethesda.

The vast majority of these projects  are residential in nature, with over 3,000 new apartment and condo units in the pipeline. However, a hotel is also in the works, and even a few office buildings, one of which is already under construction--a rarity in Montgomery County these days and Bethesda's first in over a decade. Nearly all of the projects in the pipeline are within walking distance of the Bethesda Metro station and/or the future Purple Line light rail station promoting transit usage.

THE FACTS
Coming to downtown Bethesda over the next several years:
- 30 projects
...including...
- 16 residential mid/high-rise apartment buildings
- 6 residential mid/high-rise condo buildings
- 5 office buildings
- 2 hotels
- 1 police station
...containing...
- 4,003 residential units
- 1,022,000 sq. ft. of office space
- 244,680 sq. ft. of retail space
- 452 hotel rooms
Here's a detailed list of all  of the medium/high-density development projects going up around downtown Bethesda along with their current statuses (Remember to click on the photos to enlarge):
