Derrick Rose does not have a better chance than Lebron.

How can you guys sit here and say that if Derrick Rose doesn't win 4-5 championships with the squad he has that he isn't making a better case for being a better player than LeBron James, hence, closer in overall ranking to Michael Jordan?

i just cant see him being in that company, i honesty with his style of play being a top 50 player. Its simply because of the position he plays, dude is a pg by virtue of his size and the team he plays on. So he will be compared to great pgs. And when i think of the isiah, stockton, kidd, gp, nash, etc he is light-years behind them in all aspects of being a pg. Yes he is a better slasher/pure scorer then any of these players, but when comparing them from what is traditionally viewed as a pg...... He would have to basically reinvent himself and be a entirely different player to even be in the discussion. I seriously doubt if he remains a streaky shooter, a ok passer, a lackluster/alright defender who uses speed as his basic means of offense, will reach the status of a mj. Mj wasnt the most athletic player we have ever witness, or the fastest etc... it was solely his skill-set and will/drive which makes him in the echelons of the greats.

And even that was based on a questionably call. The cavs without lebron was the biggest dropoff in sports history, in HISTORY. Name any team in any sport that has essentially lost one player and went to leagues best to one of the worst outputs in history. hell when brady went down the team still had a decent season, vick left and the falcons were relevant, so on and so forth. Ppl forget how invaulable scottie p and the supporting cast the bulls had with the success the bulls have. There can be alot of things said about the whole lebron/mj/kobe but out of the 3 none had the responsibility of carrying a team/depending on one player the way the cavs did lebron. And the dropoff of team success proves it.

You really need to get your facts straight. The Bulls lost in the semi-finals, not the ECF. Also the Bulls were 3 time defending champions and had their core in tact, minus MJ. 1994 also was the first year Toni Kukoc joined the team and if you followed basketball in that era you knew it was a major move for the Bulls. If anything Lebrons departure is more of a testament of how weak the East is and how dilluted the overall talent is when you can lead a team of medicore players at best to the best record.

Pippen without Jordan (1993–1995)

Michael Jordan retired before the 1993–94 season, and in his absence Pippen emerged from Jordan's shadow. That year, he earned All-Star Game MVP honors and led the Bulls in scoring, assists, blocks and the entire league in steals, averaging 22.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.9 steals, 1.9 three-pointers, and 0.8 blocks per game, while shooting 49.1% from the field and a career-best 32% from the three-point line. For his efforts, he earned the first of three straight All-NBA First Team nods, and he finished third in the MVP voting. The Bulls finished the season with 55 wins, only two fewer than the year before.

They lost to the knicks the first year, and indeed lose to the magic the second year.... um get facts str8. If your saying that pippen didnt lead that team because of jordans 15 or so games that he played at the end of a season. Then whorshipping has reached a all time high. And if ppl felt the east is so dilluted and weak, and his team was nothing but scrubs, why would it make sense for him to stay? Why would he then dwindle his prime years in a go nowhere team? I mean it makes nosense. He is just suppose to continously play his heart out with a bunch of scrubs only to get a bunch of individual accolades and constant top seed season records? And if the east is so weak why does that matter? so was his team. The way I see it a weak team vs other weak teams balances out the same way a strong good team vs another strong good team. Only difference is that the bulls had a superior team/great team and the cavs regardless of the majority of the so called weak teams, still faced good/great teams in detroit/celtics etc. What team did the bulls play that had such a large margin of better superior players then the bulls again?

I see the whole east is weak argument but um the good/great teams where the ones the cavs faced in the playoffs. Aint like they faced the knicks/wizards in the playoffs. Still statistically the cavs with only a lebron had success and once he left they fell off worse then any team has had in any sport PERIOD. If you wanna use the east was weak, ok fine, what big change happen this season that made the east go from weak to decent great this season? As oppose to how terrible and weak the east was last year when lebron played for the cavs? Pretty much all the good great teams remained good/great teams. And the teams that sucked well still sucked this year.

I hear the weak east argument all the time, and that it wasnt lebron that made the cavs a good team, but again i ask how has the east really changed that makes the east overall not weak from last year to this year? So you guys are saying that the 2 or 3 teams that made significant leaps as far as team success turned the east from weak to strong as a whole, and that was the reason the cavs had the worst turnaround season in sports history? Had nothing to do with lebron leaving at all, or the fact that he single handledly basically carried this team on his back?

but one thing jordan did do was make other players better.

After Jordan's first retirement following the 1992–93 season, Grant became the number-two star behind Pippen, and helped the Bulls push the Knicks to seven games in the second-round playoff series before being eliminated. Grant played in the 1994 NBA All-Star Game, posting four points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes. After posting career-bests in scoring (15.1 ppg), rebounding (11.0 rpg) and assists (3.4 apg)

In 1993–94 Bj Armstrong emerged as more of a leader in the wake of Michael Jordan's retirement, placing third on the team in scoring. He was voted a starter in the 1994 NBA All-Star Game, finished second in the NBA in three-point field goal percentage at .444 while leading the team to a 55–27 record and a second-round exit from the playoffs.
