With All Bias Aside, Why is Manu Ginobli Not a Starter?

Answer above are right, but I think it is kind of dumb how he is gonna get sixth man of the year award. Cause basically they wait until the first dead ball andsub him in and he get major starter minutes....so obviously he is gonna have great stats.
Perhaps to qualify to the sixth man award you have to play less than 30mins a game or something.

spark off bench
goes up against a more tired guy
hes old
dominate the other teams backup

Boost of the bench is such a BS answer. Like the Spurs are thinking "Oh boy, Many is coming in! Now we can REALLY play." It's nice havingsomebody good coming off the bench, but you don't put a guy who should start on the bench just so you have him coming off the bench.

Because a few years ago, pop said they had no bench.

So, they had to manu-facture one.

But that's exactly what Popovich does. Do you really think Finley should be starting over him?

"So we have a spark off the bench" - this makes absolutely NO SENSE. You intentionally play your 4 best players + your 6th best player just so youhave your 5th best player ready to go in case something goes wrong? Idiocy.

There is no good reason for it at this point. It's probably habit, superstition, or a combination of both.

You probably don't watch many basketball games if you don't believe that having a spark off the bench is important. Manu changes the tempo whenhe comes in the game when the Spurs often start off lackadaisical. This year, moreso than past years, the Spurs rely on Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili so muchthat Pop makes sure that either one, or two of them, are in the game at all times.

Because he don't need to start.

He's fine with coming off the bench.

Although peeps think he's a "rat bastard flopper," dude can ball and I respect that.

Not sure, but he plays starter minutes. Same thing with Ben Gordon. You can't call these guys the 6th man when they play 36+ minutes a game.

But, dude has to have the absolute ugliest and most awkward looking pull up jumper. Manu coming off a screen to shoot is
