2011 NEW YORK GIANTS SEASON: SUPERBOWL (Draft RB David Wilson, WR Rueben Randle, CB Jayron Hosley)

I'm actually not too concerned about the D this week, and although we put up points in a hurry, the losses on offense will hurt us a lot. Steve Smith is such an important piece to the core that we cannot afford to have injuries.

Should be a goo game Sunday.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants, who have been beset by injuries to their offensive line, missed Shawn Andrews for the second straight practice. Andrews, who played left tackle against the Cowboys, has been bothered by a back injury that flared up Wednesday after a walkthrough.

Yesterday Andrews tweeted, "This can't be happening." Later he explained that it was about being late to work, and not to read more into it.

Andrews had back issues when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles. In recent weeks he had talked about how good this second chance with the Giants was working out, and he felt healthier than ever.

"I'm just grateful for a second chance, making the best of it and loving it," Andrews said last week.

Coach Tom Coughlin said he was not ready to rule Andrews out for Sunday's game. He said that Andrews had tried to practice on Wednesday but wasn't able to.

"He actually came out and tried to work Wednesday," Coughlin said. "He felt he could work. As long as he was in a two-point stance, he felt he could. But then the smarter move prevailed and we didn't push it any. He was a little bit better this morning. And hopefully he will be a little bit better [Friday]."

If Andrews is unable to play Sunday in Philadelphia, the offensive line will be even thinner than usual. The team also is without center Shaun O'Hara, with a foot injury that could keep him out another month, and left tackle David Diehl, who has a hip/hamstring injury.

Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said it's not the way he would want the Giants to prepare for the Eagles, who use a heavy blitz package that tries to confuse the linemen.

However, he expects who is playing to perform.

"As I said last week, you lose receiver Steve Smith, you lose David Diehl," Gilbride said. "I still thought we could win the game and I thought that the way the game played out, that was borne out, and I still feel the same way this week."

Backup center Adam Koets tore his ACL two weeks ago and is out for the season.

Will Beatty, who could play left tackle, practiced Thursday, as did Rich Seubert, who has filled in at center, moving over from left guard. Kevin Boothe and rookie Mitch Petrus, who split time at left guard, practiced, as did the stable right side of Chris Snee and Kareem McKenzie.

Seubert said he is sure that sure Andrews will be available to play against his former team.

"Shawn will be all right, you know Shawn wants to play in this game," Seubert said.

On the bikes Thursday at Giants practice were defensive back Corey Webster and tight endKevin Boss.

Well, same with what I said in the game thread....even with the injuries we can win the next 3 games (Jaguars, ********, and Vikings)

This is a well built team, but the turnovers have been an issue every single week and they keep playing vs opponents and themselves.

We'll see what this team is made of down the stretch....Eagles again in 4 weeks and hopefully we'll have some able bodies back.

Bradshaw has been slowing down, heavy workload. Ware needs to start getting some snaps.

I can't blame just Eli....the JPP penalty to give the Eagles 3rd and 1 (which leads to a touch down on 4th down, and OSI was an inch away from making a play) was where the game took a turn for the worst.

We got nothing out of the running game, we keep losing these close close games but we keep piling up the turnovers. If they stopped killing themselves they would have two more wins than their record indicates, but thats the league

The turnover bug is like a plague with everyone on this team. They move the ball down field and they are good for numerous turnovers a game, can't win that way.

You need to win 4 out of the next 7 games to make the playoffs, especially with the Giants owning the tie breaker over the Bears (so far).

We got the L (with Vicks performance as of late it was expected tho) but lookin at our schedule i aint skeered.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants suffered more than a heartbreaking loss in Philadelphia as the team announced that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks will be out for approximately the next three weeks with swelling in his lower right leg.

Nicks took a hit in the leg during the27-17 loss to the Eagles on Sunday night and is being treated forcompartment syndrome, or swelling in the lower leg that compressesnerves and blood vessels.

According to the Giants, Nicksunderwent a fasciotomy at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Mondayafternoon. Compartment syndrome can lead to muscle and nerve damage ifnot treated immediately.

With Nicks expected to miss the next three weeks, the Giants are now down to three wide receivers in Mario Manningham, rookie Duke Calhoun and the recently-signed Derek Hagan.

Pro Bowl receiver Steve Smith is expected to miss another week with a partially torn pectoral muscle.

If there was an OK time to lose Nicks, it would be now with the Jags, Skins and Vikings coming up. That being said, it does not look good for our season.
