I dont know for sure but Im sure the whole family aspect of being with a black owned label vs. Getting a 360 deal with a label ran by a dude you'll never see.

Compare that 15% left he gives to artists, writers and producers to a 360 deal that they giving these one hit wonder dudes nowadays hell even Jay Z just signed a 360 deal with Live Nation. Basically they keep 100% of everything until you make the money they spent on you back(marketing you, paying for your road expenses and clothes, etc.). Me and my potna was talking about how Shop Boyz made like $10 mill off of ringtones for "Party Like A Rockstar" but saw 10% of that and had to split it 3 ways and now they still living on bankhead.

Jay owes Live Nation money for every time they got his music played on ESPN or any big sporting event Live Nation sponsored. Unless he owns a part of Live Nation which he probably does.

You'd be a fool if you don't think Birdman's paper is comparable to Jay's. But then I forgot that most kids on here are too young to have witnessed how much Juve, B.G. and the Hot Boyz sold in the early cash money day's, hell even the Big Tymers were racking in dough. Juve's 400 degrees sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. alone!!! and they've been consistent for the past 15 years.

Edit: also take into account that Mannie Fresh was the in-house producer for a number of years so they basically paid bulk or wholesale prices for production. vs paying other producers for individual beats.

if your just looking at the money they make off the music industry then of course birdman has more money than jay. what some of yall fail to realize is the music industry is where jay makes the least of his money.

exactly

Nothing more hilarious than watching a bunch of NT thousandnaires debate over millionaires money. NONE of yall know of these cats finances.... you just know what is shown to you. Net-Worth is very vague because its based on a snap shot, assets appreciate and depreciate everyday. Also I don't think most of you know but you can choose to exclude yourself from Forbes list. Its pointless to sit here an talk about how much ____ and ____ has if you haven't seen their tax forms. Alot of rappers have phantom investments that we'll never hear about, alot also have alot of debt we don't know about.

Btw Cartune Baby splits his money with Slim so your incorrect in saying he alone solely gets 85%.

As I'm trying to think about it now, it's tough to gauge. How much they make from albums, single downloads, ringtones, shows, publishing (his own AND his artists), endorsements, and lord knows what else.

With Puff and Jay you would have to take clothing into account. Though I'm not sure RocAWear or Artful Dodger (wow did he KILL that brand) are doing much.
And as Jay said, Forbes goes by what is REPORTED. Lord knows how many times Baby's walked through a club, picked up 5-10G's and walked right out.

So basically the answer is......who knows?
thank u..i been telling ppl about the forbes thing for a min and nobody listens..Dr. Dre is caking too and he is never on that list

Birdman is def. up there, he's been in the game for awhile, not to mention all the distribution deals, shows, sponsers ( lol remember lugz ), and everything else... Don't get sidetracked just by his "name" regular people like us refuse to put him in the same brackett as jigga or diddy.

.  Birdman has been making money since the late 80's, early 90s, was/is independent and certainly not paying taxes.  Him and Jay-Z are both 40 years old and Jay-Z broke out in 1996 and didnt blow up till later.  For anyone to think that Joe camel's money is soooooo much longer than Babys is

.  Aside from Diddy and 50, Birdman and Jayz are a lot closer than youd like to think.

this is stupid

The embodiment of NT's music forum. Everybody else on the forum is young and inexperienced, poster is not. Everybody else is uninformed and ignorant, poster is not. Everybody else has poor taste, poster does not. Everybody else is wrong, poster is right.

I'm not talking in the sense of album sales and record labels i'm talking about money overall Cash Money can make 1 billion this year that doesnt make birdman a billionaire he has to split that money with slim and who ever else thats all im saying.
Jay-z makes money and keeps it to his self theres no split with nobody

People saying Birdman having to split half with his blood brother you're obviously right

But splitting with your brother >>>>>>>>>>>> Splitting less profits with 2 other dudes (Biggs & Dame) and now at least 10 board members on Live Nations.
