so I've been having this discussion with my fiancé on and off for the past year. Looking at the spice girls song, I need you guys to analyze the diction of this following lyric and what connotation you see:

"If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends"

To me there is a sexual connotation here. If you wanna be my love you need to get with my friends. If you want me, you have to have relations with my friends and share yourself with them so we can all enjoy the pleasure.

My fiancé however believes there isn't a sexual connotation and this is a song just about friendship. What do y'all think?

On the real though, since its either or, sexual on nonsexual, since there is not explicit phrases that make it sexual (with the friends), then i'd have to go with the safer nonsexual.

Without any other info, you cant tell if i banged or not. Or anything else really.

But if i told you or if you knew we used to or do bang, you could can assume.

Some people say hookup and it means bang and some people say its just a number or a kiss. It could mean anything or nothing.

In the first line of the chorus she says

"If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends

When she says "friends" she doesn't mean her actual friends, its actually a play on words and she's referencing

Basically she's saying if you want to "get deeper" then you have to get with the "white people"

The next line is pretty self explanatory

"Make IT last forever, friendship never ends

"It" is reference to the reign of the Caucasian....it "never ends"
Again she states if you wanna be my lover (penetrate the system) you have got to "give" or sell your soul
