I usually have it in the cup holder. But I also have an Otterbox defender that I got for free. You def get used to the bulk, and nothing beats that peace of mind. I've had my S3 naked or in slim cases since getting it last year. Now, I just want to make it to the S5 (or S6) in one piece.

Don't put your phone on top of your lap, put it under your leg. This way you still feel the vibration and if you get up forgetting that your phone is there it just stays in the seat.
