Joe Jackson -- the patriarch of the Jackson family -- has died ... TMZ has learned.

Family sources tell TMZ, Joe passed away at 3:30 AM Wednesday in L.A.

We broke the story ... Joe was hospitalized in June with terminal cancer. His family had been flocking to his bedside since. His wife, Katherine, had been at his bedside as were some of Joe's children and grandchildren.

Joe had been battling health problems for some time now. He was hospitalized back in 2016 after coming down with a high fever. But, he bounced back not long after and was seen partying in Vegas. His health was also fragile after a stroke and 3 heart attacks back in 2015. Doctors implanted a pacemaker.

Joe may have been the most successful parent managing his children in the history of music. He, with a little help from Diana Ross, engineered the careers of The Jackson 5, and then Michael and Janet Jackson as solo artists.

The elder Jackson took a lot of heat from Michael and his siblings for abusing parenting and management practices, including physical brutality. Joe copped to it but, far from apologizing ... he said his methods made his kids successful and kept them out of jail.

Michael's dad stood by him during his molestation trial. After Michael's death, Joe was criticized for trying to make money off his son's memory.

Joe had 10 kids with Katherine, his wife of more than 60 years. The 2 did not live together and had a strained relationship for the last years of his life, but they frequently interacted.

Joe was 89.

Bruh, you've never seen the Jackson 5 movie or any documentaries on them or MJ.

That self hating nigro had all those kids and his wife brainwashed into thinking they were dark and ugly with big noses. Which is why they all had surgery.

Plus he used to beat the brakes of them. They were forced into music. MJ's mental condition was no doubt directly caused by his fathers abuse. He just took it worse than the rest.

So we gonna act like he didn’t beat his kids?

I'm not saying he was in the running for "Father/Husband of the Year" but Joe Jackson MADE his family and their name apart of American History and his determination gave us Michael Jackson. No denying that MJ's work ethic came as a result of his father. Maybe just maybe for certain aspects the means justify the ends.

Do that AND not beat your kids maybe?

Wasn’t he touching Janet and the other sister too? Do not pass this as fact I’m trying to remeber from the movie

No Joe = No Mike.

Accept that fact people

RIP

Different generation different parenting methods...ex: moms was rough with me(needed it) by the time bro and sis came I thought she went soft lol he definitely instilled some work ethic and made them better than him....as long as there was no molestation I'd say he did a decent job with all those boys in Indiana...no discipline (and music) and they could've been in the system or worse

People actually reffering to dude as a legend under the vid HipHop DX put out. Only saw one person call him out on his BS in the comments.

If you think it's okay to abuse your children in the hopes of becoming a musician/ entertainer, you are literal garbage.

Justify it all you want but there have been thousands, if not millions of kids that lost their life (physically/spiritually/mentally) because of their parents' aspirations.
Mike was lucky he was gifted with a great voice, but he was still a causality of abuse.
