You don't want or need to like anybody because you will go through EVERYONE to get your rings. And thats what matters. Forget that 1 on 1 basketball because it clearly doesn't work. Its team vs team.

I'd even include Paul Pierce. Those final appearances have to count for something.

I would agree in terms of individual greatness during the same time frame but Dirk and Kobe never played each other in the playoffs until last year (Dirk and MavsOriginally Posted by shatterkneesinc
different positions but
i would say dirk is the closest "rival" to kobe , both are around the same age group, both play incredibly well against each other, games usually go down to the wire when the teams meet, and they have a lot of respect for each other.
That version of Kobe (00-04) wasn't even that good though... Kobe became a much better player after that, while TMac really never improved. Shaq was so dominant VC, TMac or AI would have three-peated with him in the paint... starting off your career with a three ring cushion damn near off the bat was a nice luxury to have for Kobe...Originally Posted by Lubu1

If I recall, Tracy fried Kobe the majority of the time from their meets....

Vince came in to the league ready to go, he's always been a great passer and physically one of the stronger 2 guards to ever do it... NBA players used to say he was one of the most difficult players in the league to go up against, ya'll try to downplay dudes career so much on hereOriginally Posted by Mister Friendly
Vince Carter was never on Kobes level, all he could do is score points for a sorry team and dunk, he also lacked heart.Originally Posted by 0cks

Allen Iverson was a more selfish player than even Kobe, he was also a very undisciplined player.
McGrady probably couldve came close but he didnt have Kobes disclipine, therefore him and Shaq wouldve underacheived.
