I’ve seen both styles of R on authentic J1’s obtained at retail. Don’t think this is a decent authenticity check anymore. Likely has more to do with the factory/mold being used on the sole. Wouldn’t write a pair off over this.

The legs on the R is definitely not sharp enough. Triangle or upside down V is not tight at all on either of Jame’s shoe. Take a look at your pair closely and you’ll definitely see a big difference.
