Because the police will call another parent, grandparent or sibling to pick the child up. Hell I've seen police delay arresting parents to prevent the child from experiencing the unnecessary trauma of seeing a parent in cuffs.

Social services won't get involved unless the police can't reach a family member. And if they can't social services takes the wheel and looks for kinship placement. The entire goal of social services is family reunification during these circumstances. Separating children from their parents costs states millions of dollars.

That's not happening at the border though.

We can agree to disagree on the facts on the ground. I’m sure they are both based on experiences and stories we’ve heard. While what you cite is true in a lot of cases. There are tons of cases where people are arrested and their kids are left without parents and they have no idea the parents were arrested. Many end up on the streets and in awful situations pending the adjudication of their parent(s)’s case. This happens when people commit crimes all across America. There is not a standard that you can stay with your children when you’ve committed a crime.

The hell are you talking about? Due process mandates that the children are assigned a legal guardian if the parent (s) are in custody. They don’t just leave the kids be. You have NO idea what you’re talking about “lawyer”.

And ZERO times are the kids put in cages, and ZERO times do they ship them across the country overnight, and ZERO times do they “forget” where the kids belong/lose them

What exactly is you endgame argument here anyway? “Well you don’t care about this so stop pretending” or is it the “it’s not so bad” route? Either way it’s dumb

I started with I don’t think anyone ever wants to see kids separated from their parents. Kids are, however, separated from their parents across America all the time when their parents commit crimes.

Both are facts. There is no endgame. It’s sad.

Is the family separation stuff happening to people who overstay their Visa or have they been excluded?

Because that's not actually a crime in this country.

And illegal entry is a misdemeanor.

Just helps to have a little perspective and nuance on this subject.

Illegal (really improper) entry is a crime. And only the first offense is a misdemeanor. Subsequent offenses are felonies. You can most certainly go to jail for a misdemeanor. So I’m not sure the significance of saying it is a misdemeanor.

In all seriousness though, even if congress approved Trumps little Star Trek fleet, he wouldn't see it during his term and he'd be dead by the time they reached fully operational (space) service. A man can dream though.

Nah, its about having weapons platforms in space. If you can attack another country from space then you don't have to deploy a ton of aircraft and naval fleets to do all of the bombing runs. Trump wants a Death Star.

West Virginia House Panel Votes to Impeach Entire State Supreme Court

The West Virginia House Judiciary Committee voted this week to impeach the state's entire Supreme Court.

On Tuesday, the state House panel adopted articles of impeachment against all of its sitting justices: Chief Justice Margaret Workman, Justice Robin Davis, Justice Beth Walker and Justice Allen Loughry. Loughry was indicted in June for fraud, witness tampering and lying to investigators.

The articles charge the justices with maladministration, corruption, incompetency, neglect of duty and certain high crimes.

All of the justices have been accused of “unnecessary and lavish spending” for office remodeling and failing to properly execute court administrative policies. Davis, Workman and Loughry were also accused of paying retired senior status judges more than allowable by state law.

“It’s a sad day, and it certainly isn’t a cause for celebration,” Judiciary Chairman John Shott, a Republican, said Tuesday, according to the Charleston Gazette-Mail.

The articles now head to the state House. If approved, they then go the state Senate, where they would have to get two-thirds of the chamber's votes to trigger impeachment trials.

Last month, Menis Ketchum resigned from the court, right before lawmakers began considering impeachment. Then, in a plea deal, Ketchum pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud.
