Yeah, they stopped right after that guy started posting the videos of that guy opening them with a pen. You were able to send yours back and get the newversion - postage paid and everything (and those things are heavy!).
I had one that I bought in about in about 92 and they sent me a brand new one - I still have it in the packet as I don't use one of those too oftenanymore.
The best way supposedly to lock your bike is one of the thick cables you get - about 5-7 feet long usually - and a U lock with the new type key. Chainsgenerally aren't recommended as they have too much slack to let big bolt cutters in behind - and I mean really big bolt cutters - like 3 feet handled onesthat the pro-thiefs use. You put the cable through the front wheel and then the cable through the lock and the lock through the frame and rear wheel.
The advantage of the u-lock type is that you can make them pretty tight against the bike so it's hard to get them off without punking the frame or wheels -and there's no point stealing a bike that you've just ruined.
Nothing can stand up to power tools though. The one Dirty posted is the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit and it can last about 8 minutes against a powertool attack -compared to 10 minutes for their top u-lock. That's probably long enough if you leave the bike in public place - which you always should - not down somedark alley.
