Owens making free-agent visit to Bills

eek.gif

T.O. in Buffalo just doesn't seem like it would make a damn bit of sense...
laugh.gif

^^ It does to me.

The Bills are known for never going after any big FA's and the attitude in top management comes off to the fans that they don't care about winning. Addin the fact that they extended Jauron's contract without it being publically displayed, fans are irate right now. By signing Owens, it would show thatmanagement might in fact care about winning since they'e never done something like this before.

I cant imagine Owens in the AFC East though...

Also, Lee Evans has no one to take any attention away from him. Dunno seems smart on Buffalo's part. Especially considering its supposed to be a one yeardeal with major incentives FOR Buffalo. I'm assuming somewhere in the ontract if he gets out of line he's cut with no cap hit or something

Told yall. LMAO @ the AFC East next year. Trent Edwards was on fire until the bum got a concussion.

Packers agreed to terms with S Anthony Smith on an undisclosed contract.

Smith will back up starters Nick Collins and Atari Bigby, both of whom are slated to hit unrestricted free agency after next season. Smith has starter level talent and experience, but he's also been a bit of a headcase. He will be reunited with new Packers safeties coach Darren Perry.

Wasn't this the dude that guaranteed a win over the Patriots when they had a perfect record?...and then Brady proceeded to throw 2 TDs overhim when they met?

Looks like FOXSPORTS is the place to get legit info now. They were right on the money with this while BSPN swore up and down that NO team (except maybe theRaiders) would take a chance on him.

Clowns.
Bengals sign QB O'Sullivan as backup for Palmer
CINCINNATI (AP)-The Cincinnati Bengals have signed quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan to back up injured quarterback Carson Palmer.

The Bengals didn't release terms of the contract Friday. They are counting on Palmer's return from an elbow injury last season, but needed a backup after Ryan Fitzpatrick left for Buffalo as a free agent.

The 29-year-old O'Sullivan started the first eight games for San Francisco last season. He also spent time with New Orleans, where he was picked in the sixth round of the 2002 draft.

O'Sullivan has played 14 career games, completing 57.3 percent of his passes for 1,826 yards and nine touchdowns. He also has 13 interceptions.

Pittsburgh Steelers free agent cornerback Bryant McFadden has agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals, according to a league source.

McFadden received $5 million in guaranteed money, compensation that will be paid out entirely during the first year of the deal.

McFadden was drawing interest from four NFL teams: the Cardinals, the Steelers, the Miami Dolphins and the Philadelphia Eagles.

John Clayton of ESPN.com and Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com are also reporting that McFadden has agreed to terms.

Why would Dallas be laughhing? they have not won a playoff game in 13 years and it's not as if any of their current WR's are better than Owens.

It didn't take long for free-agent cornerback ShawnSprings to find a new home, or for the New EnglandPatriots to strengthen their secondary with a veteran cover man.

Springs agreed to a contract with the Patriots last week after visiting with team officials. A source told ESPN.com's John Clayton on Monday that thedeal is worth in excess of $10.5 million over three years, and if Springs reaches all of his playing incentives he could make as much as $13 million.

The addition of Springs will restore his twice-a-season matchup opposite receiver Terrell Owens, who signed with the Buffalo Bills over the weekend. As a Washington *******, Springs usually did well in trying to contain Owenswhen the was a Dallas Cowboy. The 33-year-old Springs isparticularly strong covering receivers out of the slot.

The move continues a trend by the Pats in recent years of signing a veteran cornerback in the offseason to bolster their defense. Springs, 33, was releasedby the Washington ******** last week after the team re-signed freeagent DeAngelo Hall.

Springs also considered signing with Philadelphia.

Patriots officials visited with free agent LeighBodden (Detroit) earlier in the week, then turned their attention to Springs. It is believed that Springs, who can play cornerback or safety, couldchallenge for a starting job.

Springs, a 12-year veteran, has played for the ******** the past five seasons. Prior to that, Springs played seven seasons in Seattle, which chose him witha first-round draft pick in 1997 with the third pick overall.

The former Ohio State star has played in 143 games with 134 starts. He has 372 tackles, 32 interceptions, 66 passes defensed and 8 1/2 sacks. Springs is theson of former Dallas running back Ron Springs. He played in nine games with seven starts for the ******** in 2008, before an injury ended his season.

The Patriots on Thursday also acquired wide receiver GregLewis from Philadelphia.

New England will get Lewis, along with an undisclosed choice in the 2010 draft, in exchange for an undisclosed choice in the 2009 draft. Over the last twoseasons, Lewis has dropped down the Eagles' depth chart.

A veteran of 90 games, and 23 starts, Lewis made the Philadelphia roster as an undrafted free agent in 2003. The former Illinois standout has 127 catchesfor 1,699 yards and seven touchdowns. His most productive season was in 2005, when he caught 48 passes for 561 yards.

The Patriots also re-signed starting safety JamesSanders, punter Chris Hanson and reservelinebacker Eric Alexander on Thursday.

Sanders, a fourth-round pick in 2005, has started 36 games over his first four seasons in New England. He has 198 career tackles, five interceptions and asack.

Hanson has played ten seasons in the NFL, the last two with the Patriots. He averaged 43.7 yards on 49 punts in 2008, with nine touchbacks and 19 kicksinside the 20.

Alexander was signed as a rookie free agent in 2004. He appeared in only one game last season because of a hamstring injury.

The Patriots also released linebacker DarrellRobertson, who spent part of last season on the practice squad.

Len Pasquarelli and John Clayton are senior NFL writers for ESPN.com. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Much as that game was a bit of an embarrassment - and as much as this dude seems to have some issues... he is immensely talented. I've gotta say I'msad to see him go because I really wanted him to get it together here in the Burgh and prove all the haters wrong. I was one of the last guys left defendinghim however... but the fact that he remained on a roster, despite all those issues people had with him even including the coaching staff (some of them), tellsyou that he's gotta have a lot of potential or they would've given up on him. I have a feeling he's going to "get it" very soon, andmake the Steelers sorry they let him go.. but he had his chance here I guess, maybe a change of scenery is what he needs.

And on the McFadden news, I'm also really sad to hear that - he was one of the more underrated parts of our defense, but in typical Steelers fashion wedon't overpay for players like him. He earned his big payday in free agency, so good for him. Was always a stand up guy for us, seemed like he just keptto himself and handled his business for the most part, which is very much appreciated in steel-city... I hope we can quickly replace him, and wish him the bestfor the rest of his career.

Deputies Say Bucs' Hayes Stabbed By Girlfriend

By JOSH POLTILOVE | The Tampa Tribune
The girlfriend of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Geno Hayes stabbed him in the head with a pair of scissors and in the neck with a knife, Hillsborough County deputies say.

Hayes was taken to a hospital by a friend, and he was treated and released, Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Deputies arrested 19-year-old Shevelle Bagley at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Carter said.

Bagley was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The incident began with an argument Saturday, and Bagley grabbed a pair of scissors, stabbing Hayes and causing a superficial wound to Hayes' head, Carter said. Hayes got the scissors away from Bagley.
Then Bagley "grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the neck," Carter said.

Bagley's bail was set at $25,000. She has since been released.

Hayes, 21, was a sixth-round pick by Tampa Bay in the 2008 NFL Draft. The former Florida State University player made eight tackles last season for the Bucs.
