I think it is a good question and question had potential. Like also, why is the US the same way? We are so prude about everything from language and also/especially anything that has to do with sex? Obviously the nation was bought up on Judeo Christian principles, but at what point do we realize that has accomplished nothing? Morally, we're among the worst out there and incarceration rates bare that out and sexually, well maintain among the highest std and pregnancy rates of a developed country.
In Germany, they put the nudy magazines right in the front of the store, damn near in the window with no covers over them as well as you plenty of nudity on television in the daytime, you see teens drinking and swearing (their favorite American song has a chorus refrain that goes "Alyce! Alyce! Who the ____ is Alyce!" with their parents yet they are not a nation of heathens. The censorship approach does not work.

I think its a breath of fresh air. I agree with the bolded statement. I hear kids cursing, see people act like fools, WSHH videos, all the time. I appreciate the mods and everything they do to keep NT in line. If we allowed profanity i think this would just turn into troll city. People would be going off left and right for no reason. We would have the normal COD/Madden/Fifa racists that would spam threads. Its refreshing that people have some standards to uphold to be able to post on here. And this is NT so we all know exclusive = cool lol.
If there is anything to gripe about its that we can't ask for free download links. But if you want to curse on a message board and see tons of pron there are sites out there for that....this is not it and I am glad it isn't.

He makes a fair point - I've always found the incongruity that is the prudishness of the US on the outside weird - compare that with the fact that they are the producer of most of the world's porn and violent movies and "violent music".
That Alice song is hilarious - but the song is Australian and the band who made it more famous (Smokie) are English.

In reply to this query - there are other ways/words you can employ in place of swear words to express & articulate yourself.
Resorting to base language is lazy.
While cursing in certain situations can/or be warranted in a social setting/online, I've always had the impression that cursing in general is indicative of a lower level of education and a lack of vocabulary.
There's always the thesaurus.
Good on NT that this forum isn't littered with people whose replies are all censored emoticons. Get some real discourse up in here.

even though i agree the incongruity is annoying, i guess its the result of having many freedoms mixed with a huge religious undertone in politics and society in general.
but back on topic like most have said swearing is not essential to brining any thing you have to say across

I just hate that we can't talk about weed, that's just so lame to me. As far as cursing, NT would turn into hypebeast if that happened. Dude's just outright disrespecting people for no reason
