When I first read the title, I thought to myself, "You sound surprised that it deleted all your media."
But that was before I read about the system restore point from last week.
But as far as data recovery software, from my experience, it's hit or miss.

i had to reboot in safemode to system restore
and it wasnt like the usual all my files were empty
