Honestly, not every cop or situation is the same. Based on my personal experiences with the police, I've been harassed every time I've encountered the police. To you out there saying, "you must be up to no good" or whatever, that's not always true. I'm near 25 and have never been to be in the slightest of trouble from my actions or those I associate with. I don't purposely go where I think trouble may occur. There's been a lot of "wrong place/wrong time" incidents. I'm a good dude, and I have no good experience with police. On top of that, I'm a Black male who just so happens to fit every freaking description of their wanted criminal. I was recently harassed by the cops on the 4th of July night. Some dudes tried to jack me while I was taking a walk with my ipod. I started running home and the police wound up stopping ME and harassing me like I was in the wrong. And protect and serve? I lived literally 2 blocks away and when I asked if they could take me home because the dudes may be following me , they told me to run.

Police officers are people and not all of them are jerks, so I won't pass judgment on them all. On a personal level, it's never been a good experience to encounter them. It ain't easy being a Black Dude from LA/ Cali even if you've been looking like a skateboarding nerd for 10+ years. You still seem to fit the description of the local thugs. And I don't know about yall, but most of the people I know from the hood don't call the police when there's trouble; they handle it themselves. I'm not saying that's the answer, it's the reality.

update: I got pulled over for the first time yesterday and I have to say this was the best experience I've ever had with the police. It seems that they are nicer when they're alone. I was honest with him and he let me go with just a warning. I had weed on me, forgot my license in my jacket and I'm still waiting on my new tags (since they were late with distributing these in Cali this year).

This is why I won't pass judgment, because all cops are not the same.

to the dude that said he was walking home... BRUH! you were drunk walking around a neighborhood at 3AM...

cops just like everyone else judge people and use stereotypes...
why? becasue stereotypes are somewhat true.

I'm mexican but look white btw...
so it's illegal to walk home after having a few drinks?

was i supposed to be driving around the area instead after drinking to get home?

i had a few drinks but was in complete control of myself.  in my situation what happened was unjustified. the cop wanted to put me in the car for no reason, and i refused to because i rather him do what he had to do where his dashboard camera could see it.

if he was doing his job, why did he lie and give me a fake reason as to why he stopped me, and when i asked for the description of the "suspect" he refused to give it to me.

why did he refuse to give me his name and badge number if he had nothing to hide or didn't do anything wrong?

why did friends of mine in law enforcement tell me to file a complaint after I told them the complete honest story of what happened?

Bottom line is your one of those cop loving dudes who will defend the cops even when they were in the wrong and looking for trouble. Not all cops are good and always correct. Remember that.

I could have a intelligent conversation with zapatohead over this but you seem like one of those dudes that will defend the cops even when their in the wrong, which i don't get.

I understand the need for police, but I hate pretty much all cops as individuals.
Maybe one day i'll meet a good one.  But until then, my brother died without an investigation and my little homie sat down and is still on probation for "attacking someone with a spear."  Of course the police arrived at the scene and no one could find a

spear there cuz it's 2011, but you know whatever.  It's just people's lives and livelihoods getting played with nothing important.
