I have a Bulbasaur that is 91% IV (14-13-14), but he's only 110 CP

 Not sure if I caught him wild or via egg, though. I have 59 Bulbasaur candies after a little over a month of playing this game... still grinding.

I've only seen two Charmanders, neither of them wild. I kept the one that is 80% IV (13-13-10) @ 415 CP, and have 14 Charmander candies since that one was egg-hatched. There's a really good chance I never even make it to Charmeleon, unless I get lucky and get another Charmander egg...

I've seen Squirtle and Wartortle on the scanner but never encountered either one in the game...

So is it pointless to start the game now?

Unless you just tryna catch em all, I see no hope in ever holding a gym.

I have no hope of ever holding a gym for 24 hrs... or catching em all. I have a casual list of mons that I'd like to collect, but after that I'll probably lose interest unless they hit us with more mons from Gen 2 or something. Due to my location it will probably be a while before I catch all those mons, though.

I once held a gym for about 7 days. There's absolutely no point to it at all, I would have received the same amount of coins as if I would have come back and taken it over ever 24 hours. They need to give bonuses for longer takeovers
 
No they don't. They're way too slow to strike while the iron is hot and the player base is only declining. I still want a lapras tho
