A rule of thumb I use when it comes to lending out money, whenever you lend out money never expect to see it again. The only people I lend money to is my family or than that I will not lend out money.

Why don't you just confront him is a mature way? Like, "Hey man, you know that you owe me 3300 bucks, and I see you spending all of this money so I can't help but jump to conclusions. When you owe someone money, especially your boy that has bent over backwards for you,...you should pay them back as soon as you can" etc

If you reallyy wanted the money back you would've been confronted him. I know its easier said then done, but just have a sit down with dude & ask for your $300.
