If you finish 2- 5 and win the NBA cup tournament, you get home court against anyone in your conference including future rounds.
So let's say the Cavs (4th) face Boston (1st) in the Eastern Conference finals. The Cavs get home court advantage.
The only way to guarantee yourself home court for the entire playoffs is to finish 1 and win the NBA cup.
