The Official NBA Thread: PLAYOFFS

This is why I view any news about ratings of sporting events being higher than ever with skepticism. Most people aren't watching because they like the sports or the product is great but because they are betting on the sport. If you're Adam Silver or Goodell, you don't care if a person loses their savings betting on the over or under so long as they're tuning in

This is especially true for the NFL. Always cracks me up when their ratings get posted. Those people are just watching to see if their fantasy team is going to win or to see if those parlays hit.

JJ Redick gonna get a head coaching gig sooner than later
May not want it. A lot more work and pressure than being on TV for not that much more money. Unless he’s got a serious itch for competition he needs to satisfy, I’d stick with the TV gig if I was him.

It’s wild to me. Pretty much every sports talk radio show I listen too, even if they don’t have direct partnerships with parts of the gambling “machine” regular talk about spreads, over-unders, prop. bets, etc.
Chris Berman shared his gambling picks and current spreads in a slick way back in the day. He’d predict the score of each NFL and then one of the teams would be highlighted in yellow. Most times it was the team he picked to win the game, but sometimes it was the team he picked to lose. As a kid, I thought this was a production error. It wasn’t until almost two years ago that I got it:

Now we have analysts making Sportsbook sponsored over under picks before tip-off.

Why did you have to tell us you were on the toilet when you thought of it?

If you consider fantasy as form of gambling, it’s not new. Feel like it was a little more than 20 years ago that the popularity of NFL fantasy leagues really exploded and helped take the NFL to a new level of prominence among American pro sports

The constant homophobia Wade receives is funny.

Seems like people prefer it when its quiet, like another former NBA Hall of Famer with a notoriously gay son who has a lifelong STI that is generally only passed through MtoM transmission.
