The VAST majority of rapes are all about power. If it were simply about sex, then thats all it would be... just sex. When someone rapes and murder anotherperson, its not about sex. When a father rapes his daughter... its not about sex. The majority of rapists are lonely people who do not have sex.

If it were just about sex, then the rapist would be turned off by the reactions of the person theyre harming.

Rape is alllll about power and control.

QFT. Rape is about power and control. It is a VIOLENT act. Men who generally rape have no trouble "getting" women or being able to payfor a prostitute or escort. Some/many have psychological and psychoanalytical problems which gives them a feeling to prove their masculinity and they do so bypreying on unsuspecting women.

This is not the same reasoning for date-rape, that is indeed MAINLY for sex.

Pretty much. I was reading a story about some region of Africa that is war-torn and rape was being used as a way of punishing people if they fought against the dictator or spoke out, etc. Wild stuff...

When a lion takes over a pride it kills the offspring of the former alpha lion and inseminates the females. This same concept is at work during conflicts and wars. It is a violent act but MOST people don't do it for the sake of being violent.

1. That was a typo. It was supposed to say that the majority of rapists are not from lonely people who can not get sex.

2. It's naive to think that if someone was raping someone else just for sexual pleasure, and the victim was responding VERY negatively that the rapistwould still continue?

Except we're people and we can control that urge. We have higher thinking. So when you say rape is about sex, that's wrong. You can pay a $+$%@+ and have sex willingly and you've satisfied your "urge" without having to rape someone.

Montana #27 in rapes (32.2)

Hawaii #37 in rapes (26)

Hawaii has less reported rapes than Montana but a higher Male to Femal ratio. By your theory, Hawaii should be aheadin.

I suppose you can group rape under being aroused by dominating someone else. It isn't black and white, human sexuality is complex. Some rape because theydon't have enough sex. Some have enough sex but still rape because they are aroused by dominance. Either way they are aroused and it is about sex.
