Do you tip when you do carry out at a restaurant?

wtf would someone tip for picking up? I never understood that. The whole point of me tipping when i dine in is that i sit there and recieve everything. Waiter/waitress brings my drinks, refills, food, napkins, etc. The only thing i do on my own is eat, drink, and piss/****, thats it.

One time at a casino buffet it was like 25 a head... We had a party of 10... So we said split our party into two we will still tip... But no they insisted that we can't do that sat us at one long table and gave us ****** service and the bill had a $50 gratuity.... How would y'all handle this.... I was mad my parents even paid the tip.... They never once asked to refill our drinks

I use to work in a restaurants serving drinks and the waiters there were so ****** up. If a customer did not tip them or tip them enough they would treat them like **** and charge them more than what they suppose to pay and keep the rest. Especially when they call for a delivery, they expect the customer to tip them just cause they took your order over the phone.

No delivery.... U drive your car there at your expense... And they can't even appreciate that lazy bums

no not for carry out

kinda off topic but my cousin was telling me a while ago when she used to serve at this one spot in DC, she was pulling in almost a G week in tips, was like whoa

smh i did yesterday, they brought the food to my car only. Then kinda were waiting there while i was signing the bill, left 4 bucks on a 24 dollar bill. Was i wilding for that ?

There was a time when i went to applebees. The orders were taking soooo long to come and she didnt even come to our table to let us know waht was going on. After we got our food she never came back to even check up on us and see if we needed anything else which we did. I left her a 5 dollar tip and this girl was still upset. She was like "people dont know how to tip these days".

She shouldn't have gotten a damn thing. Only tip I woulda gave her was a note that says "work on your waitressing skills" The same way good service should be rewarded, bad service needs to be brought to light also. I had horrible service from a bartender at Applebee's before she was to busy chatting it up with her friends and taking my order and giving me my drinks in a timely manner came across as a huge inconvience to her since I was interrupting her on the clock social hour. When the bill came I didn't leave her a tip, she gave me the stank face and I explained why she didn't get a tip. Her response "its common courtesy to leave a tip". I laughed in her face.

I ended up contacting her manager, corporate and sent them an email, I told them the situation, the time and date I was there and if they didn't believe me to check the cameras from that date and time. I ended up getting a free meal and drinks at that same Applebee's and a $50 giftcard from corporate.

That's why I dislike gratuity fees. There's no incentive or reason for the employee to do more then the bare minimum required of them in their job description as their getting tipped regardless through gratuity.

If I was you I would complain to the casino and send a few emails calls to their higher ups if it happened recently. Piss poor service is inexcusable

I've gone out to dinner with big groups of people and have never had one person have a problem with leaving a tip. Imagine having an nt summit and grabbing dinner. Group of 20-30 people and leave a tip of whatever coins are in their pockets if the waiter is lucky

You are lucky. I always have problems when it comes to group dinners. People seem to think they can pay the menu price and skip both tax and tip.

I don't bother arguing with them. Not worth their embarrassment, i'll just throw in a extra couple bucks to cover their share.

At the end of the day, everyone is gonna look down on you because you're to broke to tip or cover taxes.

Those are the type of people that show up to birthday parties with no presents, just came for the free food. :smh:

I seriously don't understand how tipping is such a controversial topic on nt. I've never seen arguments about it except on here. The only thing you guys agree on is tipping your barbers since you care about your haircuts so much.

Never knew it was such a controversial topic either, nor did I know that all Black people don't tip before NT.

"How are you not banned after that picture you posted in the other tipping thread

i always thought you guys were exaggerating, but the mods really don't care about black people"

And LOL at this post being deleted. A lot is being exposed about the integrity of the administration on here.

HELL NAW! I drove my black a** down there to get the food with my own gas, didn't I? I deliver mail for a living, I don't get tips from customers for doing what I'M PAID TO DO.

i always tip a dollar for carry out.
Thats my issue though, I understand leaving a tip once in a while, but I shouldn't feel pressured to EVER. A lot of these restaurants wouldn't be in business if they didn't offer carry out, and I'm sure that takes away from a waiters pay, but that isn't my problem. It's a catch 22, leaving a couple bucks is never enough, but not leaving one is a **** move? **** here with that ********! Hence why I have ceased tipping on takeout all together.

I always end up throwing in some extra money every time I go out because I anticipate there will be someone in the group that won't pay their fair share.

Wow at the cheap people in hear.

I tip everywhere I go. If I go buy gas and my credit card isn't working I'll go in pay cash and also tip the guy for taking my money and pressing the button to start the gas.

Buying groceries is the same thing. Let's say I get charged $54 for groceries. I just give them a $60 and bounce.

When I go for a check up and I have a $20 copay I'll usually just give 'em a $50 so $30 tip so I'll get better service from the doctor.

Same thing at Footlocker. I tip the guy for bringing my shoes out for me. If they don't fit and that's all they had at least he/her earned their money by actually going to the back room and getting the shoes for me.

I'm just curious about what the self-important waiters and servers on NT think.

Are yall spitting in my food because I come in every week for take out and never tip?

+ Tipping the super market clerk that oversees the self checkout lines. I scan and bag my own groceries, but I still tip that clerk.
